I had a very rewarding experience with Chris Curry's instructions in the class SYWTBAS. I like the honest and yet lighthearted approach (techniques) to awakening your senses for better stage presence, vocal awareness, each one-teach one, and real time convincibility for singers to touch the heart of audience. I am well pleased and would and have shared with other singers/vocalist the benefits of another (professional) singer's genuine love and comradarie to at least make feel like a Star after his class. I've had vocal instructions in the past; to the tune of several hundreds of dollars compared to the modest fee of Chris Curry's class. Singers invest in your craft! The class is so worth it. I am a singer in the NYC area with my own band and I've applied my new techniques already. A few musicians were commenting and quite surprise at the stage/song delivery. Hooray! To Chris Curry of "So you want to be a Star." Confidence builder class for seasoned singers. Yours Truly....PECOLA

Taking vocal instruction at So You Want To Be a Star was one of the catalysts to a major paradigm shift in my life. As a matter of fact, my life has not been the same since August 1997, and it’s all - good. All of my life I’ve sung as a soloist or choir member; but the vocal coaching I received and contacts I've made at this facility transitioned me to become a better and more confident singer. And because of this it’s afforded me to stand in the studio or on the stage with major R&B recording artists that some only dream of interacting with. For example, because of Chris Curry of SYWTBAS, I got an interview and was hired to work for a few years with Legendary Motown Diva Mary Wilson of the Supremes. Working with her camp was an awesome experience; I learned so much about the music industry and life from her.

Chris Curry's classes are comprehensive addressing the whole person, not just the voice -- health, goal-setting, business etiquette, personal presentation. He educes each individual to discover his/her unique voice and shows him/her how to use it to tell the story of a song with feeling and emotion. The result -- each student/singer becomes storyteller telling the story in a way that no one has told it before.

The singing classes and workshops that I had with So You Want To Be A Star far exceeded my expectations. The teaching style of Mr Chris Curry allowed me (as an amateur) to feel completely relaxed by our 2nd session. What he was able to convey to us in 4 weeks enabled me enough confidence to sing at a family reunion. I was amazed at the response and my ability to reinterpret a well known cover song. The information I received will be mine forever and was definitely worth the time and cost. After 2 previous American Idol failed auditions, I now have the vocal preparations and mental confidence.

My classes with Chris Curry were one of the most important vocal classes I've received. Curry taught me how to be a performer. He will give you constructive criticism in the most polite way possible. This class will not be easy, but it is most definitely worth it. One of the best things I learned from him was to get out of my comfort zone, and push my limits as a performer. Bring out the emotions of the song through me, and dont be afraid to hold back.
