I am a marriage officiant with registration in NY. I've been awarded "Best of Thumbtack" every year since 2015.
I do a thoughtful ceremony created with elements of the couple's personal narrative. It's important to me that the ceremony includes all the elements that the Bride and Groom desire. So in that respect, I try to stay out of the way and let them shine. Thoughtfully written vows and a little bit of humor makes for a great ceremony.
Helping couples craft their perfect wedding ceremony is quite rewarding. When the father of the Bride comes over at the end and says, "That was wonderful. Thank you so much" or the mother of the Groom says, "That was the most entertaining ceremony I have ever seen" that makes my work so special.

If you’re looking for an officiant, you’ve found the one! Ross was easily one of our favorite vendors for our wedding. Ross is exceptional at his craft. First off, he made my husband and I extremely comfortable the first time speaking with him. Felt like we knew Ross for years. He was there earlier, to talk to us and meet some of our family. We felt relief not having to reach out that day. Our ceremony had such an upbeat, entertaining, and lovable flow. I had never seen so many people entertained like they were at a wedding ceremony before. He respected our religious beliefs and incorporated them tastefully into our ceremony. He just gets it and takes the time to learn about you as a couple to find all the right things to say. I would 100 percent recommend Ross. Thank you for making our wedding so special.
I got married in Central Park on 10/8/17. The officiant I had initially hired a year before, cancelled on my last minute and I was lucky enough to find Ross and book him just a few days before my wedding. We had a chat over the phone and I went over the things that were needed for the ceremony and oh boy did he deliver. He was so prepared and professional I was even happy that my initial officiant cancelled. Because of last-minute-wedding-chaos I forgot to provide him with the bible verse that I wanted to be read at the ceremony but Ross read a BEAUTIFUL verse from the book of Paul that I had never heard at a wedding before and that was one of my highlights of the ceremony. He exuded so much warm and care through out the ceremony that it would've been the same without him. I highly recommend him for your ceremony. I will add pictures soon.

Ross Decker was the absolute perfect officiant for us! He arrived on time, went through what we had to say before hand and made the ceremony absolutely incredible. He was funny, captivating, and drew our audience into the service. He was an absolute delight to work with! FAQs
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Most of the time we will begin with a phone call, followed by an email. If time permits, I am happy to meet in person with the Bride and Groom to help craft their ceremony.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
While there is no special training required in order to perform weddings, I have a religious educational background and am able to perform religious and non-religious wedding ceremonies. I am licensed by the State of New York.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Dear friends of ours asked if I would perform their wedding ceremony. After a lot of positive responses about the ceremony I prepared for them I began doing marriage ceremonies regularly.
