Introduction: I love giving people the option of having a personalized, fun, romantic wedding ceremony. It's YOUR wedding, it should be as special and memorable as the day you met your significant other and never be boring or stuffy. I will take the time to write your ceremony based on your unique relationship, and using my skills as a stand-up comic, I will add a few light laughs - or a bit more if that is what your prefer. Sharon was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I've never used this service in the past, but I am happy that I found it! I am also glad I trusted other reviews of Sharon on Thumbtack, because they were right on point. We were looking for someone to officiate our wedding who would be heartfelt, sincere, and above all, funny. We are two non-religious, very laid back people, who did not want a boring, stuffy, or super long ceremony. We also wanted to make it as enjoyable for our guests as it would be for us (we’ve been to plenty of weddings in the past where the ceremony dragged on forever, and that is definitely not something we wanted to put our guests through). Sharon was sheer perfection! She sent us a pre-wedding questionnaire to fill out and then met with us in person one-on-one about a month prior to the wedding to better get to know us, and go over what we wanted. The whole process was seamless and she gave us exactly the kind of ceremony we were looking for. She managed to keep our melting guests entertained, engaged, and laughing, even in the sweltering summer heat. She also delivered a ceremony that was witty, funny, and had just the right amount of sentiment in it (without being overly cheesy or cliché). Even though we did not meet with Sharon too long, I feel like she was able to capture the essence of us in a beautifully worded, custom tailored ceremony. Moreover, all my guests commented on how amazing she was and we could not be happier we hired her. I would absolutely recommend Sharon for someone who wants a fun, non-traditional, and cool ceremony that will keep everyone smiling, crying and delighted! Thanks so much Sharon!

Sharon Simon was our wedding officiant for our wedding on 9/15/17 at the W Hoboken. She is very professional, observant, patient, and most importantly - funny! Sharon met with us in person and really put the effort into getting to know us as a couple, which helped her craft the perfect ceremony for our wedding. She was responsive to our thoughts and suggestions, and provided us with everything we needed to know regarding the ceremony. During the ceremony, she deftly incorporated details about us that our guests could relate to, incorporated subtle and funny jokes, and had our guests laughing out loud many times. Sharon was also able to keep the ceremony respectful, making sure such an important event was also remembered not just for laughs, but also poignant words regarding love, life, and marriage. It was a unique blend that had our guests laughing and then also emotional for us at our big moment just as you would expect at a more traditional ceremony. After the ceremony, all of our guests were raving about her! We were so happy and pleased, and she was an absolute gem on our perfect day!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Many factors come into play in my pricing, including day of week, time of day, time of year, location, and venue. I like to accommodate any budget, keeping in mind it takes time for each custom wedding to be written.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If you choose me as your officiant I will send you a basic questionnaire to fill out. This will help me get started on writing your ceremony. Some time between receiving your completed questionnaire, and your wedding date, I would like to speak speak with you over the phone, via Skype, or meet you to get to know you, get a feel for how your relationship works, and finalize all the details of your wedding.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My over ten years as a stand up comic gives me the ability to engage any group of people. As well, my training as a life coach enables me to get to know who people are very quickly by asking the right questions and focusing on nuances. I have educated myself on many different traditions so that I am able to accomodate all couples.
