FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I practice daily. Take notes in every class. Attend workshops. Walk in nature. Listen. Practice gratitude.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
At age 17, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. As a teenager, I felt invincible and thought I was able to "beat" this "thing". Over the years and many seizures later, I began to try out yoga. First on VCR Tapes (!) and then taking public classes at the gym. Slowly over time, I began noticing I was experiencing fewer and fewer episodes. My yoga practice, as well as making healthier life choices, contributed to me being seizure-free for several years. When I made that connection, I knew I had to give back. I wanted to learn all about "this gift that gave to me", so I began my yoga teacher training in 2011 so I can give it back to others. Tenfold.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
Assisting a large class of NYIT students during a "de-stress before finals" yoga and meditation class: they arrived in jeans, eating pizza and ready to "watch their friends" from the back of the room. I was able to get them all on the mat and watch them go from tense college students, to relaxed and smiling kids again by the time we reached final relaxation pose. Before they left, they were lighter and posing for a group shot together, exclaiming how excited they were for another class and how they were going to implement some of their 'new moves'.
