From the initial consultation to the very last dance, James made sure the process for hiring our wedding band was simple, seamless and made for an incredible reception. His experience and knowledge was recognizable from our the first call — we had our reception at a gorgeous, spacious museum with over 200 guests. He made multiple recommendations about the set list, the number of musicians, sound engineers, equipment, etc. throughout the process and was transparent about expectations and costs the whole time. He did a ton of research to find what would be best for us, sourced everything and kept us filled in every step of the way which was hugely reassuring. He also took into account our preferences for music genres and made sure the set list and instruments reflected our tastes. James expertly organized the band—all highly talented musicians—who played jazz standards in guitar/bass/drums format for the cocktail hour and then a full band playing pop, rock, and R&B hits from multiple decades for the main event. The singer, Leah Rich, was incredible, and James' impressive skills on the guitar were also noted by many guests - he was absolutely shredding! The music was amazing and had everyone dancing, and we had so many compliments from our family and friends about how awesome the band sounded. James also went above and beyond during two snafus—one, by keeping us on schedule for our first dance when our event coordinator dropped the ball, and second, by adjusting the setlist on the fly when there was a medical emergency AND then by keeping the mood up—his adaptability and professionalism were huge assets when things went awry. I’m not over-exaggerating when I say our night was perfect in no small part due to James & the amazing band — he was truly the best, and we would recommend him to anyone looking to book a stellar group for their wedding/any other event!!"See more

Jared S. says, "Growing up, I had very little exposure to making music. I had no idea how to read music, I had no sense of rhythm, and I had basically no idea what music theory was about. With that said, I had been plucking on the guitar for around 10 years and had been working on some pretty complex songs. The results are that I could play some cool stuff really poorly (I remember trying to play the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean and someone thinking I was playing Flamenco). Austin was able to meet me where I was at. He spent time walking me through music theory, how to use a metronome and what different rhythms should sound like. He also walked me through the sheet music of several pieces that I had wanted to play for quite some time. I slowly developed confidence in playing the pieces that I loved. We shifted our conversation from just playing the right notes to expression. I found I loved playing guitar even more when I had control over how the guitar was speaking. I got a taste of what is means to be a musician. Austin's expertise and approachability both shine through in his lessons. He was always very kind and patient. I never felt dumb, even when my understanding of a topic was remedial, and I could consistently feel Austin's enthusiasm when working with me. Studying with Austin is an easy recommendation for me to give!"See more
