Ada is truly amazing at what she does. We thought we had a puppy that literally could not be trained how we wanted her to. But Ada literally transformed our little Akilah in front of our eyes! We are now looking at our pup in a whole new light. She is honest in the way that she will let you know what you're doing wrong, and how to do it correctly, which I appreciate so much. No sugar coating anything. She came over for a little less than an hour and a half and addressed everything that we were concerned about. Not to mention, on our telling her about our dogs dietary allergies, she brought over treats for the training session that accommodated her. She introduced us to clicker training, and gave us one of our own to introduce Akilah to. She explained to us how to train effectively, and to get her attention before giving commands. Now, Akilah will target practice without being told the command and simply using the hand movements. She "sits", "stays", "comes", and is a lot more ready to get off of people she likes to jump on to greet. She doesn't solely do it for the treats every single time, either. She also supplemented her training after she left with videos, and a full page email of everything we went over, which was very useful, even to this day. Ada is also a very kind and caring person, and to me, that is the biggest deal. She is genuine in her love for animals and is looking out for the best interest of the dog and the owner. I don't know what we'll do once she goes back to NY, because I don't think I;d ever find another trainer like her. If you're looking for a wonderful trainer, and an effective one, you have found her! Thank you so much for what you've done for us, you've made our relationship with our little one so much stronger because now we can understand one another a lot better.

About

For the first time ever, I had to leave my dog and cat for vacation and did not have a friend or family member available to care for them. I was very nervous to hire someone I didn't know to watch my animals. As soon as I met Deb, I knew that my pets were in good hands and I did not need to worry. She sent me updates to let me know how they were doing. My dog is picky with who he likes and he loves Deb so I will definitely continue to use her services in the future! Outstanding job, thank you Deb!!!

About

Very responsive to our needs for dog training. Our very frisky dog was picked up for "boarding school," actually "boarding training," returned for a visit home, then picked up again for her second week. Did so well, she returned for additional refresher period when we needed to board for vacation. Thanks Good Dog Training for making our dog a "good dog."

About

Casey knows her stuff. Not only does she walk my dog, she brings her to the dog park, and provides treadmill therapy. The best part is she went to school for dog training so I ask her advice on behavior changes, too. She has it all covered! Plus, my dog loves her.

About

I am a Certified (through Animal Behavior College) Professional Dog Obedience Trainer and professional pet sitter. I offer private dog training and personalized pet sitting in your home. I am insured, bonded, first aid and CPR certified for cats and dogs. I am background checked through a number of organizations including Thumbtack, Pet Sitter's International, and the International Association for Canine Professionals. I have volunteered with rescue organizations for 3 years and also assist in training shelter dogs. I have been pet sitting for 6 years and have owned my own pets for 20 years. I've also worked for a groomer and a vet, gaining more valuable experience and knowledge. I am able to administer medication including insulin and have worked with other special needs dogs, doing bladder expressions, etc. I offer private dog training and personalized pet sitting in your home. I service all of Monroe County for private dog obedience training and behavior modification and, at this time, my service area for in home pet sitting is limited to 6 mile radius of 2847 Ridgeway Avenue, Rochester, NY. My Dog Obedience training is based on positive reinforcement, counter conditioning, desensitizing, and negative punishment only. (Negative punishment is when a reward, or something the dog finds pleasing, is removed). I do not use any form of physical corrections, nor do I train with shock collars, prong collars, or choke collars. I offer 6 week packages and also individual lessons on an as needed basis. For the 6 week package for adult dogs, all the basic obedience cues (food lure, touch, look, sit, sit-stay, OK, heel, loose leash walking, take it/leave it, wait/stay, down, down-stay, recall/come) will be taught as well as 2 behavior modifications that you need assistance with (Whatever issues you may be experiencing with your dog such as jumping, housebreaking, counter surfing, digging, etc.). If more than 2 behaviors need addressing, then additional sessions can be purchased beyond the 6 week training package. My puppy package includes all basic obedience cues as well as housebreaking, crate training, acclimation to grooming, socialization, puppy chewing and mouthing, jumping, "nothing in life is free", safety, the importance of exercise, redirection and jumping. Lessons are given generally once per week (if there are scheduling conflicts, then once per every week and a half) and lessons are about 1 1/2 hours+ long and the entire family is invited, and should be, present. This helps to ensure everyone living in the home is consistent with training. For pet sitting, I come to your home and each visit with your pet(s) is approximately 30 minutes (you can purchase extra time spent as well) long. I will feed, give fresh water, walk, play, clean up after, scoop litter, administer medication if needed, etc. and of course lots of love and attention! If you're going on vacation, I include complimentary services such as plant watering, bringing in mail, taking out the garbage, opening and closing blinds, light rotation, etc. Some of these services suggest your home is occupied even though you are away, an added benefit at no extra cost! No job is too big or small. If you need just one visit while you're away on a day trip or if you need four visits a day while on a 10-day vacation, I would love to care for your pet(s). Additional benefits to hiring a pet sitter vs. boarding your pet(s) include the following: your pet (most likely) being less stressed and feeling more secure and comfortable staying in his own home; not exposing him to potential illnesses that may be present in a boarding facility; receiving personal attention by the same person each visit -- me (I do have a back-up sitter in the event of emergencies.); and following (as close as possible) the same routine while being cared for in his home, e.g., eating times, walking times, potty times, medication times, etc. I'm always available by text, phone call or e-mail while you are away. I send pictures and updates of your pet(s) while they are in my care.

A Canine behavior consultant is one who works with behavioral issues by using behaviorology techniques to determine the underlying causes of the behavior through the antecedents and consequences with noting any potential medical issues. Behaviorology utilizes observation rather than vague explanations of what an animal is "thinking". By recording and analyzing observable behaviors we can better understand the behavior and take a logical approach to solving it through an operational definition of the behavior, it's antecedents and consequences and the rate, frequency and duration of the behavior. What is Positive Reinforcement? Positive Reinforcement is a technique used to train dogs based on the principle that we give something that increases the likelihood that the behavior occurs again. This technique has replaced the old fashioned aversive techniques that are better known as Positive Punishment and Negative Reinforcement. What is Negative Punishment? Methods such as Negative Punishment are not what we would think of as punishment, the use of the word punishment is not always indicative of the use of an aversive. In negative Punishment the undesirable behavior elicited by the animal simply Turns Off the pleasant stimulus; Negative Punishment is the use of a time out. What is Behavior Modification a.k.a. Behavior Change Programming? Behavior Modification is a technique used to modify an animals behavior using a behavior change program plan which is a systematic plan involving behavior change procedures set forth to change specific behaviors of the animal (CASI 2011). Behavior change programming uses the antecedents and consequences of the behavior, manipulating them to allow for a change in behavior. Behavior modification involves a functional assessment , intervention and maintenance. behavior change programming measures behavior through observation and demonstration of the problem behavior; we determine how we are going to measure the behavior and typically measure the behavior in a multitude of ways typically rate and frequency and duration.

About

I started my pet sitting/walking business just taking care of friends' and family's fur babies when they would go away or if they had long days at work or weren't feeling so great. I have two dogs of my own and realized quickly that this is what I want to do all the time! I have been serving several different areas and needs for quite some time now, and I just love it. Check out my Rover page listed above for more information, reviews, and rates!
