I was very impressed with Mike's response time & he followed up with me throughout the job. He didn't try to sell me stuff I didn't need. I would highly recommend Western New York Window Cleaning for gutter cleaning. I will definitely use them in the future.

Joe was able to come out and give me a quote and start the job shortly thereafter. He made sure to let me know exactly what he was doing and what the best route to take was for my particular job. He finished just in time for more rain to come! For the 1st time since I've lived in the house, rain hasn't dripped between the house and gutters. Everything looks great!!

I own rental property and had a laundry list of items that needed to be completed. I called Helio and he showed up on time. We talked over what needed to be done and he gave me a time frame of when he would complete it. He completed the tasks (tree cutting, gutter cleaning, roof maintenance, fixing windows, and installed screen door) no problem and gave some recommendations on other things that needed to be taken care. I have since been using him for new work that needs to be completed. He is very flexible to meet schedules and honest.

Mark and Garrett are enthusiastic and easy to deal with guys! They listen to what you need or want and will do exactly what is asked and for a reasonable price. They are punctual and professional no-job-is-small kind of guys. I needed somebody to hand-wash my gutters and install a strip of aluminum foil between the roof drip-edge and the gutters. I explained what I needed and they did it nicely and sent me photos afterwards. I highly recommend them!

Easy to work with and schedule. We had them come through before moving in to our new house which required a LOT of cleaning dust, cobwebs, and grease. The cleaners did a very thorough job cleaning tough areas like the oven, fridge etc. They worked quickly and efficiently and were extremely polite and delicate with everything.

Pleased doesn't come close to describing the terrific job Joshua Rosato did cleaning my gutters today. He did very professional and thorough work, with the added bonus of a personal touch. I also found him to be prompt and courteous. I will be hiring Joshua again in the Spring to wash windows!

I tried to hire the lowest bidder, and got excuses for three weeks of why he couldn't make it. Finally I decided to go to the next highest bidder, and he was only higher by $5. Boy, I wish I had called him first! He called me right back, scheduled me for the next day to beat the snow (and it was late in the season too; I wasn't sure he would be able to fit me in). He cleaned my gutters when he said he would. Left me an invoice. I dropped a check in the mail. Done. I will call Vincent first from now on. Oh, and he didn't leave any kind of mess, he took the gunk/leaves with him. I had a gutter cleaner once throw it all over my yard, so I can appreciate a contractor who cleans up after himself.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why is it important to clean your gutters?

Rain gutters, those easily-forgotten trenches that hang off the edge of your roof, protect your roof, walls and foundation from excess rainwater. When they get clogged with leaves, sticks and other wind-blown debris, they can no longer direct water away from your walls and foundation, and may become homes for pests and insects. They also become heavy enough to pull away from the house, preventing proper rainwater drainage and spoiling the appearance of your home. Experts recommend inspecting and cleaning your gutters twice a year, once in spring and once in fall, as part of your regular landscaping schedule. Gutter cleaning and maintenance is a fairly easy DIY job for some homeowners, especially on one-story homes. However, professional gutter cleaners have ladders tall enough to safely reach rain gutters, as well as the necessary tools to clean out the downspouts. Most gutter cleaning professionals can also make any necessary quick repairs.

How much does it cost to have gutters cleaned?

Professional gutter cleaning and maintenance should be done once or twice a year to remove debris and check for damage to the roof and gutter. The national average cost for rain gutter cleaners ranges from $100 to $130. A number of factors affect the costs, including the combined length of the gutters, the size of the house, the location of the gutters, and any risks posed to the professional cleaner. Some companies based their cost estimates on the linear square footage of the gutters; for example, 200 linear square feet of gutters on a standard, single-story ranch-style home costs an average of $125 to clean. The cost goes up for second- and third-story gutters and those in hard-to-reach places, like a roof with an unusually steep pitch. Expect to pay at least $100 more than standard prices if cleaning your home’s gutters requires extra safety precautions. Because spring and fall are gutter cleaners’ busiest seasons, some gutter cleaning and maintenance companies offer discounts during summer and winter months.

How often do you need to clean your gutters?

Gutter cleaning and maintenance is an important part of keeping up a home. Not only are clogged gutters unsightly, they can also lead to water damage in the house’s walls and roof. The best way to prevent that is to clean your gutters at least twice a year — experts recommend making it part of your spring cleaning and fall landscaping schedules. In the fall, trees lose their leaves and, in the spring, release seedpods and flower petals, all of which tend to end up in rain gutters. It’s a good idea to also have a professional gutter cleaner clear out your downspouts, too; clogged downspouts can make gutters backup and overflow.
