I have been taking piano lessons from Myla for about a year. She is incredibly patient, kind, and attentive. She's also really funny! I think what makes her such a great teacher is her flexibility and adaptability. She's been expert in every area I've shown interest in, but still lets me guide my music education. (More details on that below.) Scheduling lessons has also been an ease with her. I tend to be a perfectionist, and she's been superb in helping me iron out details of the pieces I'm working on. She also knows a lot of music history, which I ask her about as I find it enriches the pieces, and is great at teaching music theory (and making it fun!). As soon as I get interested in a new area of music (theory and sort-of improv-playing/pseudo-composing being most recent), she's on-board, encouraging, and so helpful! I always have a blast at lessons and come away having learned so much, and excited to practice some more. In my 25 years of playing instruments, I've probably had at least 10 different teachers for various instruments, and Myla is by far my favorite! Her encouragement and contagious love of music makes her stand out from even my great teachers in the past.

I am a musician and composer living in Brooklyn and teaching private piano lessons in New York City. I bring to lessons a solid and expansive education in music performance, theory, and composition in different styles, as well as the ability to explain and display the necessary skills in a variety of ways for a diversity of learning styles. I teach an aggressive curriculum, but one that is tailored to the student's personal strengths and weaknesses, and I always remain gentle and patient while guiding my students through the rewarding process of learning to create music. I have been playing the piano for 20 years, studying music performance, theory, and history at Concord Academy, The Wells College Program for the Arts in Paris, and Sarah Lawrence College, where I also studied electronic music, ethnomusicology, composition, and conducting. I am currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in composition at Brooklyn College Conservatory. Please feel free to contact me at any time either via email or phone with any questions.

My kids always enjoyed their piano lessons with you and actually practiced without me having to threaten them! Thanks to you, they both still play. Adam plays for the sheer enjoyment of it. He has a keyboard in his room in Virginia (he's still in the Navy) and puts on his headphones and plays! Thanks, Jonathan! Besides being a fantastic musician, you know how to inspire and teach. I look forward to going to my lesson every week. Not only Marc a professional but he's patient, talented and very supportive. He pays particulae attention to the pace at which the lesson moves and is always sure to confirm you understand the material before he moves any further. I recommend him to anyone who wishes to take piano lessons or learn about music theory! He's a wealth of knowledge and great to work with!

I absolutely love taking piano lessons with Moe. I got a late start at 22 years old, but Moe has helped me learn so many pieces already in the few months we’ve been working together. He does an incredible job of incorporating what each student needs most into the lessons. I started my lessons to help with my songwriting, for example, so Moe has included pop music and songwriting along with the normal Suzuki training. I highly recommend Moe as a teacher to anyone of any age that wants to learn piano!

I am an adult student and have been taking piano lessons from Rubi for many years. I find my lessons enjoyable and Rubi is very thorough in both interpretation and technique. She also continues to challenge me in the repertoire she chooses; she is very knowledgable, caring and experienced. I highly recommend her as a teacher.

David is a good piano teacher. During the two years my 10 year old daughter has studied with him, she has learned sight reading, ear training, scales, theory, and new techniques that allow her to play comfortably and musically. She likes to take piano lessons with David because she says that he listens to her suggestions and finds solutions that they both like. He is a very responsible teacher since he always prepares her well for piano recitals and exams. I highly recommend David as a piano teacher.

I offer trumpet lessons (all levels) and piano lessons (from beginner to intermediate) in your home. My piano students have at least one recital per year in which my trumpet students may participate as well. I have a unique way to start beginning piano students, which combines the best of traditional music notation with Suzuki instruction and ideas from the "Music Tree" method. Music reading fluency is a priority as well as proper technique and repertoire. Younger students use Montessori type instruction to obtain a solid foundation in note reading. On the trumpet, I specialize in NYSSMA instruction, classical repertoire and technique, jazz improvisation study, and excellence in music reading. I help students to perform their very best with school ensembles. Above all, my students enjoy playing their instruments and smile a lot during the lessons. I especially love teaching beginners on both instruments and find that aspect of my job to be very rewarding and enjoyable. The way that the brain processes music reading and performing is a special interest of mine, and I have consequently had success with students who haven't thrived with other teachers, including students with learning/processing differences. My students are consistently successful at NYSSMA and are often chosen to participate in area all-state, all-county, and all-state organizations. Some have gone on to be music majors at schools, such as the University of Massachusetts and SUNY-Buffalo. I have many local references and testimonials by band directors. I teach primarily in the following areas: Briarcliff Manor, Ossining, Millwood, Chappaqua, Armonk, Somers, Mt. Kisco, Irvington, and Ardsley, but will consider other areas if you can schedule your lessons at the beginning or end of my day or if you have more than one student. Please visit my piano and trumpet blogs at my website.
