Mabel is a great tutor. I needed help getting my limited Spanish up to a more conversational level. She met with me near my office, recommended sites/ work to do in between our sessions, and was very supportive, effective and friendly.

Conversamos tres veces por semana. Ella es formidable: creativa, compasiva, dinamica, intuitiva. Yo aprendo mucho con ella, de la gramatica a las expresiones colombianas, del subjunctivo a la cultura del tiempo.

Mabel tutored my two kids, ages 8 and 7, after school twice weekly for two months in preparation for a long trip to visit family in Argentina. She really made the most out of after-school sessions with two kids who were often tired and unmotivated--she was patient but firm, as well as flexible in her methods to accommodate their needs and moods. We really appreciated her help and I can only imagine how far she'd get with more willing learners!!

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I start to teach in DC because the tv station were a work went bankrupt, my still boss told that while I find a new job in my area try to teach Spanish in this Foreign language school where one of his friends work. So I went and I love the one on one style, I take the training and the rest is history.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Be preparer for work hard in the more creative way, I am also very patience and I understandable and I know how to read the people, so if you are tired, worry or maybe no feeling well, don't try to hide from me, is not going to work, just talk to me, we can figure out things. Also, tell me if something is not working for you, like I said I am very good to catch things but sometimes is better listened from the student, there is always a way to improve and the teacher is not always right.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

That I take every student like a new challenge, and so far I overcome all of them, you be surprise how persistent I could be.
