Immediate healing in tumors in lower abdomen ( one was like a mid size grapefruit, and the other one was like a golf-ball size). They disappered same day, after session. WOW! My pain was gone right away, and still gone in lower abdomen. Immediate healing in car-sickness, mental ballancing (before I used to switch over numbers, when I was writing). My stress, fears, and angers were gone. I feel more relief, and still feel it.I can focus more, I feel calm, and in peace. And still feel that way. She ballanced my energy field, body field, emotional field, spiritual body field. She lifted that burden, what was pushing me down. I feel so healthy, so alive. She healed my hip-joint, before it was dislocated two times. Now feel so strong. No pain, and no discomfort in my knees. No pain in my shoulders. Feel so much love. My digestion so much better. I can eat spicy food. She is the best! I am so blessed to know her. She saved my health and my life for sure. Thank you, Beloved Jacquie

I met Michael years ago. He has transformed my life. Between his sessions (not a lot of them) with me and him recommending I read the Power Of Now. I see life totally differently and I don't get upset at anything. Maybe once a year I go in for a tune-up session. I recommend him whenever I can. He is what "I" call a holistic psychologist that I don't have to go to for 3-6 months at a time and he does get RESULTS.

Being first time users of this app, we didn't know what to expect. It could not have been any easier. We hired a masseuse. Susan Colette was extremely personable. It was so reassuring to have someone so experienced and knowledgeable in her perfession come to the door. We will definitely be using her services again.

Rick helped me through a very serious emotional and physical crisis with his precise insight, expert advice, and patience to reach a deeper level of understanding, clarity, and action. I was very despondent, highly stressed, confused, and fundamentally lost with a very complex and difficult series of personal and health problems to navigate. I am very grateful for the immediate specific meditations he suggested, as they helped to calm me, and focus on the positives he suggested that I could control. Rick's healing energy and sensitive intelligence helped to restore my belief in my strengths and gave me renewed ways of thinking through his detailed and highly acute analysis. I know that his ability to reveal the connections underlying these restrictions in me were effective in getting me to transform and feel more in control of my life. Rick's words of wisdom and ability to connect emotionally with me, had a profound effect on my healing. It is very rare to find someone capable of fluently reading a complicated situation without having to explain every detail. Rick is both perceptive in observation, and practical in solutions, he is direct, gets to the heart of the matter in an authentic innovative and caring approach. I am very grateful for the guidance and support I was fortunate to receive.

Kelly is an OUTSTANDING health and wellness coach. She helped me overcome years of body-image and extreme dieting issues by analyzing all areas of my life. She is personal, non-judgmental and positive! She helps me set realistic personal, and health goals and is right by my side as I work to achieve them. Kelly goes above and beyond by following up every session with notes and related articles and information on the topics we discussed. She is very knowledgeable about holistic health, and understands the challenges that busy women face everyday. Above all, she is a kind soul who truly cares about her clients and helping them live fulfilling, happy, healthy lives.

I've had sooo many massage therapists and masseuses for the last 20 years and Steve is a rare breed IMO. I have chronic pain issues that are so bad now just walking to a massage spa is daunting. So I thought I'd try someone who could come to my house as I would be more relaxed. First of all, his folding bed was more comfortable than some spas! Secondly, and most importantly, he asked what ailed me and he applied soft pressure sometimes and stronger pressure other times (which is unusual because most massages are either/or). He explains why you have tension in certain areas of the body as a direct result of other areas in the body that you carry similar/mirroring tension (a compensating effect) which made a lot of sense to me. Physical therapists have touched on this phenomenon (no pun intended) but never delved into it as deeply & logically. Very helpful because it adds to your awareness of how you carry yourself (out of habit & circumstance) & your posture & how all these things considered affect your overall physical health (which can even affect your mental health/spirit!). So Steve's a keeper! I can't recommend him highly enough (& can't wait for my next session, I feel worlds better!)!

Naceel gave us the best price! We couldn't believe it!! You have to contact him and request him to see for yourself! Naceel gave us the best massage. I always get massages but I have to say this was the best massage! Today was my first time having the massage done at the comfort of my home. I wasn't sure how it would be. But the experience was great and privacy of my home. I was so relaxed and even took a nap after. It felt great that I didn't have to travel home. I was already home. Me and my mom got the massage. I am going to refer him to everyone. Again, no one can beat his price! He care about the clients and not the money. I wanted the massage very often and he told me based on my weight that I didn't need as much as I wanted the massage. Naceel will work with you individually and let you know how many sessions you would need for optimal health. He cares about his clients. He is fantastic!

Marilyn has been my health coach for over a year now. Not only is she an amazing health coach she has also been there to help me with my life. As time went on she has provided me with the confidence and courage that I needed to realize certain things. If I did not set out on this journey with Marilyn, I am not sure where I would be right now with my health and with my personal life. I am extremely grateful that she has come into my life and I am certain she will always be here.

Dana is a talented healer who has helped me feel so much better from severe migraines, period cramps, IBS, and CFS/ME/CFIDS. The cramps are almost not noticeable now, and the migraines and dizziness that had ruined my life are hugely better. Both the severity and the frequency of the migraines are better. The IBS is the best it has been in many years. The CFS is not as severe. When you have severe health issues you can't just go once or twice, you have to go regularly for it to help you. But because she is a community acupuncturist and has a sliding scale you can afford to get the treatments you need to feel better. You recline on a comfortable lazy-boy chair and it is very relaxing. She is kind and really cares about her patients. I highly recommend her. I wish I had done this years ago for the migraines and period cramps but then there was no community acupuncture available until Dana opened her practice.

    About

As an independent researcher, I work much more from an unbiased place of open-mindedness than other medical professionals. I, myself, was failed by professional medicine. This forced me to learn about my own body as a complete and miraculous machine - rather than a disjointed pile of parts, each requiring its own, separate, professional care. To prevent illness and to heal ourselves from chronic ailments, it is crucial that we see ourselves as a Whole. Our physical health, psychological health, and emotional health are all intricately connected in ways we're only just beginning to grasp. Healing myself naturally was, perhaps, the most empowering experience I've had in my life. I believe we are each our own healers. Don't get me wrong - the wonders of Western Medicine cannot be beat when it comes to acute injuries. But chronic illness? Lifestyle choices? Medical professionals have a long way to go before I'll consider them anything but "primitive" in this department. I will help you in your holistic health quest by looking at you as an individual: a person with a unique body, unique mind, unique heart. Sadly, that is what sets me apart from other health coaches.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is naturopathic medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is classified as an alternative healing method, but licensed naturopathic doctors share some of the same academic background as conventional medical doctors and can often prescribe some medications. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP), naturopathic medicine is holistic care that addresses a wide range of problems including (but not limited to) allergies, chronic pain, digestive issues, hormonal imbalances, obesity, respiratory conditions, heart disease, fertility problems, menopause, adrenal fatigue, cancer, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Naturopathic medicine aims to strengthen and empower the body and its organs to heal itself through low-force interventions. Here are some examples of the type of medical services often provided by naturopathic doctors, as cited by the AANP:

    • Clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing
    • Nutritional medicine
    • Botanical medicine
    • Naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy)
    • Hygiene
    • Counseling
    • Minor surgery
    • Homeopathy
    • Acupuncture
    • Intravenous and injection therapy
    • Naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth)

    Do naturopaths take insurance?

Many naturopathic doctors accept insurance, but a separate question is whether your insurance covers alternative and naturopathic services. There are several steps you can take to find out:

    • Verify whether you live in one of the 20 states that currently licenses naturopathic physicians:
      • Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont and Washington.
    • Confirm whether your insurance will cover naturopathic medical services. Read your insurance plan’s fine print, verify whether naturopathic doctors fall into your insurance carrier’s definition of a doctor, and confirm that the care you are receiving is considered medically necessary. Questions to ask your insurance provider could include:
      • Am I covered for this treatment by a naturopathic physician?
      • Do I need a referral?
      • Is there a list of approved naturopathic doctors in my network?
      • What will the co-pay be?
      • Are there limits to my naturopathic coverage?
    • Before seeking medical care, it’s key to understand the difference between a naturopathic doctor and a naturopath. Anyone may advertise themselves as a naturopath, while to be a licensed naturopathic doctor, a person must complete academic and clinical training.

    Can naturopathic doctors prescribe medication?

Licensed naturopathic doctors can prescribe some pharmaceutical medication. Naturopathic doctors complete academic training similar to that of conventional physicians: a bachelor’s degree with a focus on pre-med studies, followed by a four-year residential naturopathic medical program whose first two years have a similar foundation to that of a conventional medical school. After completing their studies, they must pass a post-doctoral exam. Although licensed naturopathic physicians are able to prescribe medication, they usually focus on prevention rather than treatment of symptoms. A naturopathic doctor will offer a holistic approach to your care that encompasses your mental, physical and emotional health. While they will prescribe medication as needed to treat illness, they are also likely to be creating shifts in your lifestyle and nutrition to effect deeper changes in your body’s response to illness.

How do you find a good naturopath?

It’s important not to get misled by the title “naturopath” when searching for a naturopathic doctor. A naturopathic doctor is a licensed professional, while anyone who so desires can call themselves a naturopath. A naturopathic doctor has completed eight years of schooling and is licensed to provide high-quality medical care. When searching for a naturopathic doctor, a good place to start is by researching your state’s licensing and regulatory body for that profession.

Currently, 20 U.S. states license the practice of naturopathic medicine. For those seeking holistic, body-centered healing solutions, a naturopathic doctor can be a good fit. They use natural medicines as well as treatments such as electrotherapy and ayurvedic medicine to encourage the body to heal. Once you have determined a list of naturopathic physicians who are licensed in your state, look for reviews, ask for referrals, and interview the physician in person or by phone to find the right care provider for your health needs.

How long do naturopathic doctors go to school?

Like conventional physicians, naturopathic doctors undergo rigorous academic and clinical training prior to practice. Typically naturopathic doctors go to school for eight years. There are currently 20 states in the U.S. that provide licensing for naturopathic doctors. According to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, a naturopathic doctor must complete a bachelor’s degree and an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical program, and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination, the Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Examinations (NPLEX), in order to receive a license or registration to practice medicine.

The first two years of the residential naturopathic medical program cover many of the same areas of study as conventional medical schools. Naturopathic doctors provide primary patient holistic care. The goal of naturopathic medicine is preventative care and a focus on low force intervention healing methods. This can include natural medicines, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, homeopathy and much more. Naturopathic doctors often work in tandem with conventional medical doctors, as the two practices complement one another.
