After our DJ cancelled just weeks before our wedding, my husband and I were nervous and scrambling to find a replacement. By that point most DJs in our area were booked, but Nick from the Wedding and Party Center had that same Friday night free. Even with the rushed circumstances though, he was very understanding of our budget and worked with our couple to create a DJ - MC - dance light package that was just perfect for our reception needs. Nick was very professional, we didn't need to worry about anything once the reception got started, and worked well with our coordinator to keep everything moving smoothly and according to schedule. The music was fantastic, and once invited up, our guests never left the dance floor. To our surprise and to the entertainment and enjoyment of our guests, he also threw in a few live solos (Nick and his whole family are also musicians and professional vocalists). I was especially appreciative that Nick could cater to our very diverse and international group, half brazilian, and half english-american-korean-japanese-etc. Once he started playing South American and Latin songs the party became even more lively, and our guests stayed to the end of the night. Thank you Nick and the Wedding and Party Center for not only saving the day in a tight spot, but providing and excellent service and helping us celebrate with a great party on our wedding day.

Working with Scott was such a pleasure! I had the opportunity to see him play several times this year and each time was such a fun experience. The jazz band he put together for my wedding was just perfect! The music and musicians were lovely, we couldn't have asked for anything more! Scott really listened to what we wanted, from the ceremony music to the father/daughter dance, and was just so cool! The jazz trio was fantastic. Thanks so much for everything Scott!

I met Gary about 15 years ago, when I moved to the States. His rock music teaching program for aspiring musicians of any age, grouped by skill level and interests rather than just age group, grabbed my attention the first time I visited the (now defunct, unfortunately) East Coast Music store. I joined his program, and before I knew it I became part of many bands that he formed over the years, making lots of new musical friends in addition to improving my skills. Gary's music talent is unparalleled: he knows thousands of songs across different genres by heart, his soloing skills are amazing (especially in jazz and rock) yet he only uses them artfully to refine the sound of the band, complementing shortcomings of the wanna-be musicians that he is teaching love for music to. The result is that any aspiring musician, no matter the age and playing skills, is offered a joyful and enticing environment to play music in, and feel "I did it, I can do even better and I know now what to practice on next". I am fascinated by his ability to interact with children all ages, get the most out of them and make them feel proud of their performances. When I took music lessons as a teen ager, they were all about score reading and practicing passages. Of course they are important steps, but I never had a teacher like Gary who would also bring in the passion of sharing music in a band, learning from each others' mistakes, making commitments to other band members to practice and improve, performing in public every now and then as a motivating challenge to grow musically. More recently I enjoyed playing with Gary some serious jazz. His improvisation skills are amazing and head and shoulders above anybody I know. As I play my part I listen to his soulful re-interpretation of the tune in awe, realizing how much more I need to grow and I can learn from him. I don't think there is any other professional musician that like him can dialog with pro musicians and primary school kids beginners with the same ease.

I was looking for a vocal coach for the month I was back on holiday from college. He had excellent reviews on thumbtack so I decided to give it a try. I had three lessons, once a week. He was extremely accommodating and the lessons were enjoyable. I am a complete novice and he helped me develop the basics with various exercises during the first half of the lesson, followed by singing songs of my choosing. At the end he also gave me a CD with practice exercises I could continue doing when I went back to school- which I try to use every day. Very personable and has decades of experience, not just as a singer but as well as a teacher. I would highly recommend.

Amy is friendly and patient and is great at tailoring each lesson to what the student needs - both vocally and mentally. She has equipped me with practical tools, not abstract concepts, in order to improve my voice and is great at communicating how to achieve proper physical form even when it is impossible to show it. I've only been working with Amy for six months and there is already a marked improvement in both my singing and speaking voice. I would highly recommend her for students of all ages and experience levels.

Kristin is a fantastic teacher! She is very devoted to her students, and was the first teacher to help me transition from classical singing to musical theater. I always use the way she taught me to warm up through my resonances...it is efficient and fool proof! Kristin is a treasure in an industry that can be a challenging milieu for young singers!

Kazuko is a wonderful flute teacher whom I would recommend wholeheartedly to anyone wanting to study the flute. As an adult student coming back to flute after many years of not playing, I appreciate that Kazuko focuses not only on technique but also on musicality and expressiveness. She's very patient, but will also push you to improve beyond what you perceive to be your current skill level.

We were very pleased to have Nico play guitar and sing in our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. She is very professional, arrived in advance and dressed appropriately for a wedding. She asked us in details of what we need in the ceremony and the cocktail hour, and tailored the song choices to exactly what we wanted.  She recommended songs that would be good and also played my favorite, “Fools Rush In.” In a busy and stressful wedding, Nico’s professionalism made it easy and her beautiful singing made our ceremony really perfect.  My wife was so happy and several of our guests asked for her card.  We’d definitely hire her again.

Marla Mase is an extraordinary event planner, creator of party magic and Producer! After having been in the business for a couple of decades and working in so many different venues, types of events, parties and performances, Marla has an incredible team. She’s amassed a phenomenal, devoted group of performers, artists, designers & caterers whom she employs at all her parties, depending on need and skill set. I have worked with Marla on several creative projects and events and had a ball working with her. She is the ultimate professional, but always works in a relaxed, easygoing fashion. She is open to discussion and will always brainstorm to bring ones vision to life. Recently she produced a Rock show and party in Tribeca for me that hosted an amazing band, along with several international actors, dancers and singers. Marla hired one of her designers to transform the old Tribeca firehouse into an underworld of sea creatures and magic. It was spectacular. The food was a beautifully abundant array of hors devours and beverages. Hailing from Tribeca and having worked in the New York area for so many years for hundreds of high-end clients, Marla is truly cutting edge. She has an eye for the unique, and is able to adapt to the vision of her client. Marla really gets the job done. She’s personable and lovely and I always feel I’m in good hands with her at the helm.

Whenever I want to impress and dazzle my friends I take them to hear Karen sing! She is equal or even surpasses many jazz singers I have seen and regularly heard, on satellite radio, including some of the greats. The voice, the performance, the sheer heart that I enjoy every time I see her perform has no equal! The only improvement I can think of is for me to alter my schedule and see her more often!

"Singing can heal." That's what Daisy said to me when I sat down on a plump meditation cushion on the floor of her apartment. I crossed and uncrossed my legs, unsure of how to sit, until she finally chirped, "Just get comfortable." Taking in the candles and bright fabrics and Buddhist sculptures that dotted the floor around me, I felt like I was in a very unique space: half meditation hall and half fort made out of blankets. It turns out that meditation and play are exactly how Daisy described singing to me. She would often remind me to remain present to my voice and the sensations in my body, gently nudging me to hear the sound of my own voice without judgement. In those moments I felt a deep peace and immersion, the same as I do when I sit Zazen, go for a long run, or really get into a place of flow with my painting. Out of that sense of focus came an incredible joy, and Daisy not only encouraged it, she framed it in ways that helped me learn even more. In particular, she would have me improvise with her, singing my own invented responses to little phrases she would sing. This back and forth exchange always made me giggle and allowed me to immediately practice what I had just learned in the more formal first half of class. These were also the moments where I felt most humbled and awed by Daisy herself. As she let herself go, I heard her sing the most incredible and tender notes, and more than once would feel so moved that I couldn't think of anything to sing at all. We all want teachers who know what they are doing. Who are credible and talented. I have heard her sing in professional contexts, but never really understood just how good she is until I saw her sing with such warmth and fullness. It looked effortless, but of course the whole point is that it isn't. Her years of classical training and her arduous daily practice are what allow her to be such a "natural." In breaking that lifelong process into manageable baby steps, and meeting me where I was, she inspired me to actually learn. That humility and generosity are what make her not just a great singer, but a great teacher as well. For weeks we focused on resonance, a fundamental that i had no idea even existed. I expected to be learning how to hit notes. Instead she taught me to hear them and snake through the in-between notes in scales. Because I am an artist, she printed out diagrams and had them hanging in her wonderfully quirky room, which now was a kind of artistic haven for us both. She would point out aspects of the pictures, helping me visualize what my throat and vocal chords were doing when I began to feel them vibrate in new and strange ways. Yes, I was changing, and my voice got better, and my singing became more respectful and sincere. But also important was the fact that this change was deeply supportive and affirming. Daisy is someone so firm and capable that she can also be compassionate and playful. She's a rock on a zafu, and with her holding space, your voice can trill and squeak and slowly slowly sink deep into the pockets of notes. If that sounds New Agey and weird, I can only say I thought the same thing when Daisy said the voice can heal. I went into class thinking about how as a gay man, I have always hated my voice. To see it as effeminate and lacking power. I wanted to learn to sound butch. And If I couldn't do that, I wanted at least to sound like Beyoncé! I have always felt that I needed to be whipped into shape, and that eventually I could get rid of my voice and create something more socially acceptable and strong. And then, on our second class together, something strange happened. I sang a note with resonance and I felt it vibrate in my nose. I stayed open, kept a sense of ease in my throat and let it grow louder. My eyes widened as I heard it echo in the room and resonate there as well. i kept my mouth open, feeling like I had channeled something more than created it. I listened and what I heard was full and lush and warm. The whole time, Daisy sat across from me with a knowing smile. I closed my mouth and she just said, "There it is! You found your voice." If you want to sing like Beyoncé, go anywhere. But If you want to sing in your own voice, go to Daisy.

I had Peter play my house party Family BBQ. He truly is a pro. He played q great variety of tunes and truly entertained our guests. He took requests and at one point had us singing along. He is the whole package and I would highly recommend. From my party, Peter ended up playing with a full band at a friend in Huntington. They thanked me for the recommendation. Jackie J.

Teddie was amazing! I'm SO glad we connected with such a talented musician. His prices were more than reasonable for the services he offered, and he went above and beyond to do his part for our special wedding day. He played beautifully with the singer we provided, the wedding honestly wouldn't have been as beautiful without him. I would definitely recommend him for your wedding, no matter the setting. My only regret is not asking him to stay for dinner after!
