Anthony was awesome. He was personable, friendly over the phone and he was able to get me on the schedule quickly. I called on Saturday and they came out today (Monday). I believe the cost was fair. Sam was the tech who came out to complete the job. He too was friendly and personable. He was able to get out every stain and the carpet looks new. They process was fast and he was thorough. I am more than pleased with the end result, and will definitely call them in the future. Thank you!!!

He was hired for a deep cleaning of an elderly man's home. It was full of dust among other things! He and Darrell did a great job of getting it cleaned. They were efficient and thorough. So much so, I hired him to come back and clean the carpet.

Dwayne did an EXCELLENT job on the floors - EXACTLY what I was looking for! He has a lot of pride in the work he does. We were getting ready to sell a house - the tenant ruined the carpeting & we pulled it up. We decided to have the hardwood floors refinished instead of replacing the carpeting. The livingroom was in pretty good shape. One bedroom had a residue from old carpet padding on it. The other bedroom was so-called refinished by the tenant (the tenant did a horrible job - all uneven and blotchy looking). Dwayne did a wonderful job on the livingroom. He got the carpet pad residue off & the bedroom floor is beautiful. The other bedroom, he had to fix what the tenant screwed up. He worked very hard to make it look good. There was a tough spot & I told him it looked OK, and to leave it as is - he said "I'm going to try something else because it would bother me, it's my job & I take pride in what I do" - more people should have his work ethics. The 2nd bedroom came out beautiful as well. We had 2 other estimates to have the floors done at OUTRAGEOUS quotes. Dwayne did exactly what we wanted/needed done - the other 2 companies kept trying to up-sale us with services I didn't think we needed. Both of the other companies told us we needed to sand down to bare wood, re-stain and they poly it! Dwayne said we didn't need to do that & he was right! Two realtors commented on how nice the floors were - I passed his business card on to them! I would hire Dwayne again in a heart beat...he's honest, reliable and did a bang up job on our floors! Wish I had a photo on my computer to share - I was very happy with the results! THANKS DWAYNE!

Quick carpet clean of a room for a new tenant. Mr. Jones provided a prompt and competitive quote and arrived the afternoon of the day I received the quote. The quality of the work was great he was able remove food stains in the carpet that we did not think would be possible to remove. The carpet looks almost brand new after cleaning. I would highly recommend his carpet cleaning service. Prompt, professional and very quick to come and get the work done.

Rod was chosen from five bidders, all of whom were close in their estimates. Unlike the others, he initially mentioned renovation options ( both interior and exterior ) that had not been considered in the planning. No one else "thought outside the box". This was a complete renovation of a house to prepare it for sale: new flooring throughout, new padding and carpeting throughout, much repair work of damaged wood and walls, a wood-burning fireplace rehab; installation of new vanities, sinks, mirrors, med. cabinets and accessories, 5 new ceiling fans, power washing, painting shutters and repair and painting of storage shed, caulking around foundation, installation of all new interior and exterior doors. You can see that the job was all-encompassing and Rod was up to the task and did some unique repairs along the way. The only two detours included four dead electrical outlets that still need to be repaired by an electrician and the time frame ran more than 3 and 1/2 months. If you are willing to be patient, Rod will do a bang-up job for you. He would text pictures of items for my approval before he would make a purchase. He provided me with a receipt for everything that was required for the job. This was an $11,000+ investment, but the new owner is not going to have any headaches once they move in. I hope to hire Rod again for work at my own residence and would comfortably make a referral to anyone in need of his services.

Did and excellent job on cleaning very dirty carpet at my daughter's home. Carpet had not been cleaned since she had the house built three years ago. Very satisfied. In addition he came in cheaper than his estimate; and not like the commercial carpet cleaners, did not try to sell us other products that are not needed. Highly recommend him.

Tony is awesome, we were on a very tight schedule, and needed our floors refinished before we moved in, the floors were in very bad shape, not only did Tony help remove carpet, he also went around all the floors and pulled out all the staples, he sanded and polyed the floors in just 3 days! Floors now look 10 times better, I am already working with Tony on another project, I highly recommend Tony, you won't be disappointed!

The installer was very friendly and here on time. He did an excellent job of cleaning up and removing the very old carpet and padding. I had a Living room with a hallway, 2 closets and 3 door openings done. The transitions into the the 3 rooms look great. I know there are at least 2 seams, even knowing where they are, I cannot find them. I am extremely happy with the finished job and will have them back for future carpeting needs. Thank you Will Getz

VERY pleased with AWG Cleaning Service. Mr. G. is very personable and takes great pride in what he does! He cleaned the vinyl floors very thoroughly - he stripped the old wax, dirt and some stains off and then proceeded to apply the wax. He restored the shine to the floor and is looking LOVELY! I will most definitively pass his information to anyone who may need floor cleaning service. He even gave us some maintenance tips to keep out floor looking good.

He was a great guy. Friendly and professional. Showed up when he said he would. He loves Electrolux. Unfortunately he didn't get the stain out of my carpet in the high traffic area. I don't know if they are not removable or Electrolux was not able to get the dirt out.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who cleans area rugs?

Like your carpets, area rugs should ideally be cleaned at least once a year to remove dust and dirt and help them last longer. In general, carpet cleaning professionals also clean area rugs. Some rug cleaners bring their cleaning equipment to your home, while others remove your area rugs and clean them at their facilities. Either way, the rug should be cleaned with the solution most appropriate to its specific fabric and construction. It should also be completely dry before you return it to the floor.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How much does it cost to clean a rug?

Area rugs are typically found in high-traffic areas of the home, like hallways and entryways, so they collect more dirt and stains than simple vacuuming can handle. Similar to carpet cleaning, professionals can come to your home to deep-clean your area rugs. The national average cost for rug cleaning ranges from $80 to $120, but may be higher or lower depending on the rug’s size and fiber type. Rug cleaners generally charge by the square foot; for example, a standard 8-foot by 10-foot rug costs an average of $100 to clean. Natural fiber rugs, such as wool or silk, are usually more expensive to have cleaned than synthetic rugs. A carpeting cleaning company may charge on average $1.50 per square foot to clean a synthetic rug, $2 per square foot for a wool rug, and $3 per square foot for a silk rug. Some delicate rugs need to be washed by hand, which increases the price. Carpet cleaning companies often offer additional services, such as removing odors or applying moth deterrent, which can add 20 cents to 25 cents per square foot.

How much does it cost to carpet a bedroom?

If you’re building a new home, remodeling, or ready for new carpet in your bedroom, you’ll want to know carpet installation costs. Here are the factors that affect the cost of your new bedroom carpet:

  • Installation cost per square yard: From under $2 to over $6. Carpet companies have a labor cost per square foot for installing your new carpet. Depending on where you live in the country, that rate can vary greatly. This rate does not include the cost of the carpet.
  • Type of carpet: from $1 per square foot to $20 or more per square foot. The fibers that make up your carpet will have a direct effect on cost. As an example, specialty wool carpets may start at about $10 per square foot, while a manufactured fiber like nylon may be about $2 per square foot.
  • Removal of old carpet: from $1 to $4 per square yard. Old carpet is labor-intensive to remove and also costs money to dispose of or recycle. The cost to remove carpet will depend on how much carpet you need removed and whether your installation pros offer a discounted rate for installing your new carpet at the same time.
  • Subfloor repair: from $40 to $70 per hour (plus materials cost). If the flooring underneath your old carpet is damaged, it must be repaired before the new carpet is installed. Many carpet pros can offer this service, or you can hire a handyman to handle the job.
  • Type of carpet pad: $1 per square yard and up, depending on the thickness. The cost to install carpet pad is typically included with the labor cost per yard of installing the carpet itself.

How much is the cheapest carpet?

If you’re looking to reduce carpet installation costs, there are several ways to save. Start by considering your carpeting needs. Manufactured materials such as polyester and nylon will be cheaper than natural fibers such as wool. From big box retailers, starting prices for olefin-based carpet are approximately 50 cents per square foot — making the cost under $5 per square yard. Indoor carpets made with olefin fibers are typically the least expensive on the market. Keep in mind that olefin fibers are not as soft on bare feet as other fibers, so are often used in areas like basements, playrooms or indoor patios. Nylon and polyester are good options to reduce carpet installation costs while still creating a cozy feel. The face weight, fiber construction and density of a carpet all affect the cost per square foot. The cheapest nylon or polyester carpets can start at just under $2 per square foot, making them about $18 per square yard. Lower-cost carpet tends to wear out more quickly and show stains more easily, so avoid light colors and vacuum regularly to keep the fibers clear of dirt that might age it too quickly.
