Yesterday Lavelle and his team moved both my mom and brother to an assisted living facility. Throughout the entire move Lavelle was sensitive and very supportive throughout the entire process. He was always prompt and responsive to all calls and emails. He was on time and his fees were honest and what was quoted. I am out of town and had to choose the mover long distance-we were not disappointed-my mom, brother and extended family all praised Lavelle for his professionalism- all furniture safely moved and reassembled. We were very pleased with Mount Up Moving Services and would highly recommend their services. They were outstanding!!! Thank you!!

I am extremely happy with The Movers 911. They worked tirelessly on our huge move from Toledo to Columbus until the job was done and had a great attitude throughout the whole thing. John, Don, and Garlan were the best movers I could have hoped for. The price was reasonable and I would definitely use them again!

I was expected to move out of my previous apartment on Jan 31st, with no wiggle room, and move in to my new place on Feb 4th. I turned to Thumbtack to see if any moving companies would be able to help me. The following day, I received a phone call from Alex, who talked me through my choices and followed up with me several times. I would have to get movers twice, for both days, then pay month's worth of storage to store my items until the 4th. However, my new landlord sped up his process and with his help, I was able to work it out to only do the move on one day, Jan 28th. I called Alex back and was pleased with the new quote and set it up. I was then charged $45 to reserve my date. I wasn't too happy about paying for that over the line, but I went with it and I'm glad I did. A little closer to the move, Alex called me to reschedule for the 29th due to the job before mine being a long distance move, I agreed. My window was between 10 am - 12 pm. Alex called about 11:45 am to let me know the movers would be running a little late due to weather. I said okay. The movers called me and told me they were bringing an extra person for free since it was taking awhile. The movers arrived at 1 pm and started working/charging by the hour at 1:25 pm (I was living on a crowded street with no parking, it took them a minute to find parking, understandably). Leon, Roy, and Jahmere worked diligently and efficiently until the move was complete at 4:25 pm. They were very professional and never complained about the steps (moved from a third floor apartment to a second floor) or snow. I would absolutely recommend their services. Make sure you ask for Leon, Roy, and Jahmere. Thank you so much!

If you are looking for an intelligent, professional and talented movers, please contact American Eagle, one of the best local and long distance moving companies. However, I used a team of them before two weeks ago. It was ,a secured journey, concerned all the time and managed very heavy stuffs carefully. On the road there was some traffic jam that spoiled our half an hour but the team made the relocation quite pleasant with conversation throughout the time and removed my boredom. I can easily rate it as my best move! I will never forget them.

I moved from Denver to Las Vegas. It was a long distance move but I enjoyed very much. I packed some small items and the rest like fragile and antiques were exclusively wrapped by the movers and then loaded all of my stuffs in the truck. The driver started the journey in afternoon. It seemed he never stopped any place before the destination. Since the consignment was delivered a day early. Movers did lots of jokes and fun on move day. Overall it was a good journey. I think it was my best experience. Many thanks to Prestige.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
