- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My own childhood "horror stories" brought about an intense desire to study human behavior in order to try and make sense of the things that were going on in my life. Having been trained in the "old school" of therapy where potential therapists had to undergo their own intensive therapy in order to help clients, I underwent personal growth and awareness. That experience allowed me to become a true believer in the power of therapy and how it can change one's life. My participation in marathon running has also allowed me to develop a deep appreciation for the power of the mind and the possibility to change old thinking patterns that are self-defeating.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common problems that I see are anxiety, self-esteem issues, depression, and relationship problems.
