FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I usually quote for a weekly half hour lesson which is $25. Full hour is discounted, at $45. If I travel to the student's home, I charge 50 cents per mile as a travel fee, however, it's free if the student comes to my studio. Lessons are paid in advance for the month---late fee of $5 if paid later than the 7th of the month.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Before the first lesson, I talk with the parents of the student (or the adult student) to get a better understanding of the goals and wants for music lessons. I also ask if the student has a favorite type of music they play or listen to, and if they have any previous music experience (school band/orchestra/choir, past lessons), and if it's with the same instrument in question, if they still have the lesson books/sheet music from that previous experience/lessons. Also I have the student who has had experience play me their hardest piece to get a better idea of where they're at currently.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I graduated with my bachelor's degree for music education, instrumental focus, from THE Ohio State University in 2012. I have gone through numerous pedagogy classes through my first job at Piano Lessons In Your Home, Inc.
