Introduction: I am passionate about teaching and as a trained and licensed teacher in Ohio, I am dedicated to how students learn about the world around them and understand how the arts, the process of making art, and the history of art are all intimately interconnected to human history. Man has made art, marks on cave wall and on found objects form before he spoke any language, as communication and markers that “I was here”. Being an artist and art teacher, I want to share my passion and interest in different cultures and those people's individual ways of making images and objects as cultural expression. I have traveled to northern Europe, Norway and England, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain, and Italy. Having also been to East Africa, Kenya and Tanzania, these personal experiences have made a life-long impression on me, widening my world view of people from different cultures and countries. I love making things like masks, which are a cross cultural object. Children and teens love the idea of what a mask can as a personal statement of conscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings. As an artist and free spirit at heart, I do tend to think in a non-traditional, liberal way, and approach my life this way too. As a teacher, I am going to approach teaching the same way, within boundaries. I choose to look at the world from a child’s perspective. To observe with wonder, to be a flexible, sensitive and a creative thinker, making up my own rules and thinking “outside the box” to solve a design problem. Expressing thoughts, feelings and experiences is the underlying point of being an artist.
