The employee that cleaned my caprters did a fantastic job. He cleaned 4 rooms, a little hallway and two stair cases for $100. The price was very fair and each room looks great. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for someone to clean their carpets or hardwood floors.

Tony has been coming to our home for years to clean our carpets. My husband and I have been talking about replacing our 13 year old carpets, but every time Tony leaves, my husband and I are so impressed with how great the carpets look, we realize we can put off new carpeting for a couple more years! He is determined to make sure you are satisfied, which we experienced in our most recent carpet cleaning. We had adopted a female dog that went into heat shortly after we got her. There were blood stains in every room of our home. We could not get the stains out ourselves. We had Tony come out to see if he could work his magic on what we thought was a lost cause. He pretreated the carpets and went to work. Once the carpets dried that evening, we could still see some of the blood stains. Tony called to follow-up and we had told him that there was still a little bit of staining, but we didn't expect that it would all come out. He insisted that he come back at no charge and treat the carpets again where the staining was. They now look fantastic and stain free! Tony is very friendly, trustworthy, on time and reasonably priced. We have never noticed any strong odors from his products and my favorite part is that the carpets dry fast. We always try to have our carpets cleaned in the warmer months as I do not like having damp carpet. I highly recommend Tony and hope he continues cleaning carpets for many years to come. We also have our couch and area rugs cleans by Tony at the same time and have always been pleased. I also believe that they (Tony & his wife are a team) clean wood and tile floors.

TJ Flooring installed a ceramic tile floor in our kitchen and entry way. We are very pleased with the work they did. They were professional, friendly, punctual and delivered a quality product. We agreed the job would be done within 4 days. They finished in 3 days without any issues. I would definitely hire TJ Flooring again.

We have used Greg for various jobs on our rental home. I can ask him to do the little things, as well as larger projects. He has repaired gutters, repaired a fence latch, replaced kitchen flooring, fixed our heater, weather sealed some doors, put in new screen/storm doors, fixed a ceiling fan, installed a new mailbox, and various other upkeep jobs. He charges very reasonable rates, and is helpful at coming up with a cost-effective solution if that is what you desire. He is easy to reach via text message and email which is helpful and eliminates "phone tag" issues. Because of the variable nature of the jobs he does, sometimes he is not able to do the work on the originally scheduled day because a previous job may run long. Usually, this isn't a problem, and if the job is urgent, he always comes through.

Frank has done the best job I have ever experienced in a home cleaning service. He always cleans my home JUST the way I would do it, only BETTER. We work together to create a list of priorities for cleaning areas in my home. We focus on bedrooms (dusting, vacuuming), baths (tubs, showers with glass doors, porcelain tile), kitchen cabinets, wood furniture, glass tables, windows and floors (solid hardwood, marble). Frank's work is absolutely perfect. He gets a lot done in his time at my house and there are no shortcuts. Everything he cleans is simply spotless. He is courteous, professional, efficient, 100% on time every time, and has the most wonderful calming demeanor. I have hired other professionals who have been great in one or more areas mentioned above. But, none of them had all of the qualities I would ideally like to see. I am happy to say, Frank has simply got everything I could wish for in a house cleaning professional.

What an awesome job by the installers putting in our ceramic tile floor in our kitchen. Cost was very reasonable and we have already discussed a future project with them. The staff was very professional and as a COMPLETELY SATISFIED customer, we highly recommend Affordable Tile & Flooring for your flooring/remodeling needs.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How can I get my grout clean?

Dirt, mildew and grime can make your grout lines look downright tragic. If you have the ability, DIY tile and grout cleaning is definitely doable. Your main obstacles are time, project size, availability of the right materials and effort. Your first step in tile and grout cleaning is making sure the surface area is cleaned of basic dirt and buildup and wiped down. Be sure not to use a bleach-based cleaning agent, which could react dangerously with the vinegar used in later steps.

Depending on the delicacy of your tile and grout, it may be wise to start with water and friction before proceeding to a cleaning solution. In the shower you can spray the area while brushing gently, or use a spray bottle filled with warm water on countertops or floors. If water won’t do the trick, try a solution of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and repeat the gentle brushing motion. This combination should begin to lift dirt and grime from the grout. For additional tile and grout cleaning power, baking soda applied directly to grout lines and sprayed with your water vinegar solution can help suds off sticky grime. If your DIY cleaning solutions aren’t doing the trick, store-bought sprays and pastes may have more cleansing power. Rinse thoroughly after cleaning and enjoy your sparkling clean grout.

Tile and grout cleaning supplies include:

    • Old standard or electric toothbrush
    • Stiff bristle brush
    • Spray bottle
    • White vinegar
    • Commercial grout cleaner

How much does it cost to clean tile and grout?

The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Pros may charge a flat fee or by the square foot. Rates can vary depending on the type of tile and grout you have (more delicate tiles may mean specialized products or careful handwashing), how dirty your tile and grout are, and what part of the country you are in (regional labor rates and costs to do business affect costs). For example, one floor cleaning company charges 75 cents per square foot for tile and grout cleaning for projects that permit cleaning by machine. Another company may charge $30-$50 per hour for hand-cleaning of tiles. Companies often charge a minimum fee for services to ensure their business expenses are met when they accept a job, no matter how small. In addition, a tile and flooring cleaning professional may charge added fees, such as $25 or more, to move heavy furniture or appliances.

How do professionals clean tile and grout?

If you need tile and grout cleaning and don’t have the time or mobility for scrubbing your entire house on your hands and knees, it’s time to turn to the pros. Tile and grout cleaning professionals have industrial-grade machines designed for the sole task of cleaning the porous materials of grout and tile. Typically, a cleaning pro will come out to assess the job and provide you with a quote. Often they charge per square foot (for example, 75 cents per square foot), with higher prices or an hourly rate for areas that will need hand cleaning. The national average cost for tile and grout cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Once onsite, the pros thoroughly clean the area by wiping or sweeping down and then vacuuming up any dry dirt. Next a chemical tile cleaner is sprayed over the surface, causing dirt to loosen and adhere to the spray; the industry term for this is “suspension.” The pros then clean the floor with professional-strength machines, which often use a combination of steam, brushes and vacuum to loosen, agitate and lift entrenched dirt. Your floor is then rinsed, removing all the spray. Usually a small room can be cleaned in under an hour. Applying a sealant afterward is recommend and will also affect cost.
