Everything about Harry is GREAT! I would book him any time again without a doubt! He is the best photographer you could have for any event! He is a true professional, stays in contact, respects your wishes, and works with them. At the same time he has a vision, he knows how to talk to people, how to guide them. He has a very fun personality, too. The bridal party loved him! They took fun pictures later the night having a blast. He was always there to catch the right moment. He also brought an assistant with him. We felt very good and relieved having him on our wedding day to catch all the special moments. Harry thank you so much for everything, you are fabulous!!!

JT was the DJ for my wedding and he was absolutely great! He had all of the music we wanted, which is saying a lot since we had non traditional music during our ceremony! Not to memtin that I wanted my entrance song to begin in the middle, but it all went perfectly! He even went above beyond with advice about the order of reception stuff since I had no idea how it should go, never having been married before and all. I would definitely call him for another event in the future!

I have worked with Paul on numerous occasions. He has not only photographed my dance students but he was videographer for my annual dance recital this year. Several of my students have worked with him in his music videos and the videos are top quality! What an amazing job he has done and I look forward to working with him in the future!

Cory was amazing! He and his team made my day so special. They came to the event with creative ideas and even ran down an outdoor venue last minute because the weather ended up being nice. They were friendly and fun to work with. I would gladly recommend them to any of my friends and family.

I recently used Beatbanguz Entertainment for a company picnic. Elijah arrived about an hour early, surveyed the area and got everything set up. He had his equipment up and running and ready to roll about 30-40 minutes after arriving. One aspect i really enjoyed about the experience was how well Elijah adapted to the crowd and was able to keep the music upbeat and family friendly. I did not provide a music list to the DJ, but he already knew what to do and had a great mix from multiple genres. I will add that even though our party was a relaxed environment, Elijah kept his professional appearance and attitude. As a side note - I am someone who can appreciate the quality and skill of a DJ. Couple observations; transition from song to song was outstanding (beat match); We had a few speeches where the DJ actually listened and knew exactly when to cut the music back in, his scratching on the turntables sounded great and was not over done. He also had a few sampled tracks that seemed to fit in just right. The sound equipment Elijah was using sounded clean and crisp with plenty of power to fill a large space during our outdoor event. I believe that Beatbanguz Entertainment added much needed life to the party. I wish I would have used this company for my past events. Elijah is definitely not a run of the mill entertainer with an IPOD. Given the experience and the positive reactions from people at our party, I will be using Beatbanguz Entertainment for all my future events years to come. Kudos to this guy for doing it the way it should be done.

Maximum music was perfect for my son's graduation party(June, 2015)! He was very professional and set up early. He did such a great job with the music the kids never requested any songs, they liked what he played and so did the adults! Very pleased and I would book him for another event.

Heather Taylor is the proprietor of Studio Kin and has volunteered her time and talents as the longtime Lead Photographer/Videographer for 934 Gallery, a volunteer-operated arts space in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood in Columbus. 934 has utilized Heather's photo and video work in many aspects of our marketing, for promotion of specific exhibits, documenting artwork for archival purposes and showcasing 934 as an event venue. She is professional on site and has a great rapport with guests. Her turnaround on delivering photos is always prompt and often ahead of schedule. I would highly recommend Studio Kin for anyone seeking reliable and high quality photo or video documentation. - Abigail Hartung, Executive Director, 934 Gallery weww.934gallery.org

There are so many videographers out there that it gets overwhelming and the costs can skyrocket. We had a budget in mind and found byBloom on Thumbtack. I compared their website videos to a few others and narrowed it down to two. I asked others for their input between the works and everyone voted for byBloom. I don't have the best eye for photography and all, but our final product was just like the example works on their website in the quality of the cinematography in the final products. The music they choose synced up perfectly. Our turnaround was less than 2 months and everyone hat has seen the video has said how great it looks. On the wedding day, the team of two was there for our first look, the ceremony, and reception- they were able to work alongside the photographer and remain there but not there. Overall it was a great experience and great final product! I do wish a DVD or USB had come included with it as I am not the most tech savvy to download from the Dropbox file but I will want to get that later.

Kevin has photographed several events for us, as well as shot/edited/produced videos ranging from family celebrations to professional presentations. The quality of the work is outstanding - his photography has a fresh feel, and his friendly and professional demeanor allows people to relax and forget about the camera, resulting in pictures that we will treasure forever. The video work is clean and creative - he some how delivers exactly what we need, even if we weren't sure ourselves. I could not recommend his services more highly.

Kristie is awesome to work with. She goes the extra mile to make wedding dreams come true. If we showed her an example of something we liked she new how to get it, either by making it herself or where to get it.We had a destination wedding and Kristie came to the beach and worked so hard to get us what we wanted. We came home and had a beautiful reception. So many guests replied " it looked like something out of a magazine" it was gorgeous. Kristie spent a lot of time with us working on every detail. She even MADE beautiful hair accessories that looked like antique brooches, found mothers gifts, bridesmaids gifts, she did it all, flowers, food , music, venue, photography. There are so many decisions and details with a wedding that we couldn't have done it with out her. She is so talented and has the best ideas. I would use her services again for parties, dinners, receptions, showers, loved working with her.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
