I took weekly guitar lessons from Johnny A about 10 years ago when I was 12-13. I had to stop when high school started to accommodate a football/basketball practice schedule, but continued to schedule 1-time lessons to learn specific skills (like slide playing, etc.) He helped mix the lessons into a combination of what I "wanted" to learn (to keep me interested) and what I needed to learn (to progress as a guitar player). 10 years later, I'm hopelessly addicted to the guitar. I have a number of friends who started lessons (with different teachers) and gave up on it early because it wasn't fun. Well, Johnny A helped hook me early, helped me get through the frustrating first weeks, and helped turn me into an guitar player who has actually been paid to play. I'd recommend John to anyone looking for a new addiction.

He is giving my 13-year-old granddaughter singing lessons. She's a bit ADD, and he's very patient and helps her focus on the things she needs to learn. He is very professional and clearly loves what he does. I recommend him wholeheartedly.

After trying to learn guitar casually on my own for a few years, I decided to seek out lessons. When I compared a few places I felt like Brian Armor would be a good teacher. I started taking weekly lessons a few months ago and chose a favorite rock song to learn. Since then I've added several songs and feel great about my progress. Brian is good at teaching things quickly. He knows how to adapt to my pace and scale it down. He gives me a good sense of where I'm at and what to work on, including reminders to avoid my bad habits. I'm impressed that Brian can listen to a song and is able to play it by ear, with the right tuning, key, and rhythm. Overall I'm having fun, playing songs I like (not just scales and chord progressions), and looking forward to getting better. Guitar lessons are my favorite part about Mondays! I highly recommend guitar lessons with Brian.

Our 9 year old daughter started taking lessons with True Virtuoso back in February. Right from the start she was welcomed and encouraged by True Virtuoso to be the piano player God created her to be. We were encouraged as parents to do our part as well, after all it is a team effort! The piano recital at the end of the spring was AWESOME! First class to say the least, not to short and not too long with plenty of words of affirmation for all the students and parents alike. We've liked it so much we are not taking the summer off!

I had a guitar teacher named Phil Black, and he was a very cool dude. But in five years, I learned practically nothing from the man...ended up getting lessons from Geoff, and now I know what I'm doing. He really knows what he's doing, but I'm sure Phil did as well. The difference is that Geoff can actually teach you what you need to know with ease and simplicity. Highly recommend.

I'm a trumpet player and have taken lessons from Ron for about 2 years. He is very informative and and very easy to understand. We have gone over the jazz scales/chords and how to fit them into improvisation as well as taking a good look at the chord stucture of a song. He always having me play the 3rd's and 7th's to get the flavor of the tune. He's a "superb" Musician!!! Maybe have a "practice CD" to work with until we have another session. Keep doing what your doing!!!

I wanted to step out on a limb and try a singing lesson to even see if it was possible for me to match pitch! I went my entire life thinking I was a terrible singer and just not possible for me. The first lesson with Danielle started a little shaky, but by the time we were 20 minutes into the lesson I all of a sudden started to match pitch. She was so wonderful about teaching the importance of breathing and getting a proper breath, that within 20 minutes I went from "oh boy" to "ok maybe we can work with this"! I just finished my 4th lesson and I can pretty much match pitch almost at first try every time and she said I can even begin working on a song next lesson. I honestly can't even believe how I sound when I sing now. I obviously have a lot of work to do still, but she has helped me think tha now the impossible is possible! I couldn't be more pleased!

Hayley was my first ever voice teacher - she was phenomenal! I was so nervous to take lessons, or to sing in front of anyone, and I truly feel like the time I spent working with her made me a better singer. I definitely recommend her!

My daughter took voice lessons from this instructor for about one year. She said that the lessons were always fun and that the instructor was strong on warm-ups. The instructor helped my daughter have a greater accuracy in pitch and helped her grow in confidence. This instructor has an incredible voice and is very professional. If you are looking for someone to instruct you or your family member, I highly recommend this instructor!

About

Hello Catherine, Thank you for contacting me about piano lessons. I do have several adult students who are learning for pleasure, so I base the lessons on your particular interests, and also going at a pace that you are comfortable with. I usually start new learners with half hour lessons, and I charge $15.00 for the half hour lesson--sorry, the quote part doesn't give me the option to make that clear. I look forward to answering any questions you might have. Yours, Phillipa

About

I believe that music is a powerful and transformative skill for people of all ages to learn. Children who study music routinely perform better in school and are more likely to graduate. Music education gives the gift of being able to express oneself, which I believe to be one of the greatest gifts a person can give another. In signing for lessons with me, you will have someone in your corner to help explain things like technique, theory, and timbre. I offer the first lesson for free as my chance to audition to be your teacher.
