Aj Alcorn was polite, professional, quick, knowledge, fair priced, paid onot per job basis not per hour, and an overal exceptional job with flexible options. He unclogged a tub drain and will be replacing the tub drain system. He installed a removable joint in the tub drain and brought up to today's stabdards. He also cleaned our heater all in one trip. Definitely will pass along his name and use Aj again!

Ben was awesome! Super easy to work with and did an amazing job. Installed a pedestal sink, new faucet and a new shower faucet. Hoping to get him back here to clean out a drain in the next month. Would definitely recommend!

I was so relieved when I called Shawn for a kitchen sink that wouldn’t drain and he was able to come the same day. He arrived, took care of the problem, checked the integrity of the system, without leaving a mess. Shawn “saved the day”. I will call him again for future plumbing issues.

Chuck checked the toilets, vent, and drains and explained what he was finding. He suggested one of the first steps was replacing one of the toilets and quoted a fair price. However, we later surmised ourselves that the hard water had been drying in the top of the toilet bowls and that was what was slowing the flushes. We tried cleaning out the toilet bowl inlets ourselves with a special solution with some success. Chuck didn't charge for checking everything out, which was nice. We will keep him in mind if we need to replace a toilet.

Joe was great to work with, he helped fix a bad install job of my kitchen sink drain when I remodeled. The issue was a little deeper than originally thought and he had all the tools needed to fix it. So that was awesome, I didn't have to run to the store to get tools to do the work! Would recommend Joe for your needs! His price is very fair and his hours work with most 8-5 working people such as myself.

We’ll be using Steve again after a great first round of plumbing projects for a DIY bathroom. Steve was professional, responsive and performed his work in a clean and efficient manner. As someone who is well versed in other areas of construction - it’s nice to know that Steve is available when a project demands some ‘pro’ level experience. Give Steve a call if you want honest, professional and affordable service.

I had a problem with a tub drain not being plumbed right, which caused a severe leak. Dave was upfront about the price and worked with my time schedule. He was on time and used the time effectively. My leak is no more and the price was right. Also I was informed by Dave about the situation, and what my options were. I was made comfortable about having a choice about the work and cost before hand. 5 stars

Ron gave me a contact to call to handle my drain clog and commode leak as well as a bath sink clog and hot water leak. Gary the plumber came out quickly and did a great job. There was a problem which needed more extensive repairs and I received the bid and an explanation of the additional work needed. I would most certainly use him again and would recommend them most highly.

Nate was great. We had to replace the subfloor in our master bedroom due to the previous owner. Nate came in and knocked it out in one day. He cleaned up after the work was completed. We were so impressed we even talked about redoing the master bath and finish the basement.

I did my post Saturday afternoon and Jerry came out Sunday afternoon And arrange time. Jerry was very professional which I appreciated. He put my think back together and showed me some common sense of fashion tricks to help with a slow draining sink. Jerry is a man who kept his word which is very rare to find these days with professional help. I will call him for any and all future jobs in. I highly recommend Jerry. Thank you for your help and God bless.

I had a leak going from my condo on the 3rd floor to the condo unit below me. At first, I called RotoRooter to come out. They checked the leak area, said it was a pipe, and would take an hour to fix. After another 10 minutes, they said they would need multiple pipe repairs and they would need to pull out the bathtub itself to get to the pipes to replace them. They estimated it would take about 8-10 hours of work and cost anywhere around $3,500 to $4,500 dollars after labor and materials to fix. I was not buying their explanation. They charged me $229 dollars anyways for their 'hour' of work. I looked on Thumbtack and Ron was the first one to respond. He came out the next morning, saw it was a different issue with a cracked seal around the tub drain, fixed, and repaired it for $145. The most important thing to me is getting the right issue and fixing it. I trust Ron's professionalism and work quality. Ron also assured me if anything else came up, he would come back out to investigate. 5 stars for Ron and I would recommend him to others. I will use him again in the future if plumbing items come up.

My family and I are very pleased with the work Gary did on our bathroom remodel. He and his helper, Eric, were courteous, professional, thoughtful, and thorough. Gary takes pride in his work and strives for excellence. He replaced our bathroom ceiling and removed our bathroom floor (including subfloor) and installed new wood and vinyl tiles. His attention to detail was impeccable, and he took the time to do things right. It was worth it!! Gary and Eric also did a great job cleaning up throughout the entire project. I intend to hire Gary again for more work in the future.

I have had an opportunity to see David in action on several projects. He is detail oriented and takes great pride in his work. David's work ethic is first rate. He has repaired floors, installed bathroom fixtures and performed other handyman-type jobs, all were done to my satisfaction. He is a young, clean-cut family man who is not afraid to work and has a strong desire to exceed his customers' expectations. I would recommend him for any project.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
