Absolutely wonderful to work with. Shannon and her team are kind, professional and are great with my fur babies! I was a nervous wreck trying a pet sitting service for the first time but they put my mind at ease and the visit summaries and pics of my canine crew kept me from being anxious while I was away.

Susan paired our pup with a dog walker that was wonderful! When our usual gal was unavailable, Susan walked Murphy herself! I knew Murphy was in good hands when Susan requested to meet her first before coming to the house while we were gone to let her out. I would highly recommend Sit Stay Grow for house visit or pet sitting! We have done both and are very please with the cost and services!

I don't think anything could have gone better. Sarah was wonderful with Miss Missy, very attentive, she recognized that Miss Missy was a little apprehensive with her bigger dogs and accommodated for that and she provided services that I requested at no charge since Miss Missy was an overnight guest. Just great customer service overall. I was hesitant at first because of the drive to get there, etc. but once I found my way I can say it's well worth the drive and you will not regret leaving your pet with her.

Kimberly is amazing. She went above and beyond to take care of my two cats and my fish--I came home to a clean house with fresh kitty litter and new cat food for the cats. Highly recommended!

Natasha and Bart were great! I just adopted a bunny a few months ago and had never left her with anyone before. Natasha and Bart excelled at communicating with me daily when checking in with Thumper. I received pictures of my bunny which was very comforting. They were very easy to get in contact with when I needed to talk with them and very professional. I will be using Natasha’s pet sitting services again and recommend others to do the same.

About

My husband and I have been providing pet sitting services for several years now! We are no longer offering boarding in our home (we recently moved to a different state and are living in an apartment until we buy a new home), but I am still offering pet sitting and overnight stays. I'd be happy to send you a link to our old website, so you can check out all of our positive reviews! Previous families we used to care for are also available as references. In addition to our own little business, I worked with a pet sitting company in Tampa, FL, carrying for a variety of pets, for a couple years. The owner of the company is likewise willing to vouch for us!

About

I've always loved being around animals, especially dogs. I would love to be able to start pet sitting and dog walking again. 'll do whatever I can to make you and your pets happy.

Hi! I'm Mada McCullough, and I'm a high school graduate who absolutely loves animals. If you're looking for someone to look after your furry companions, I'm your girl! Whether it be a cat or a dog, I offer walking at $6/half an hour or $8/hour and pet sitting at $15/visit. If it's needed, you can even bring them over to my home. I have two dogs and three cats of my own that I care for several hours a day as well as two horses (boarded at Canal Winchester). I'm told that I'm brilliant with animals, and I have never met an animal who hasn't warmed up to me. I will be studying pre-veterinary medicine at University of Findlay this fall, and I have tons of experience working with both cats and dogs. I have helped train and discipline every dog my family has owned. I also study animal behavior on my own. I am willing to take your dogs for walks while you're gone and the bigger the dog the friendlier, I say! A choker collar of some sort is always nice, and I have never had a dog hurt itself while wearing one. Harnesses are great as well. If there are any behavioral issues that need to be worked on, I have no problem laying down the law! My two dogs at home are a Rottweiler-Akita, who loves to play and doesn't have a hostile bone in his body, and a Miniature Australian Shepherd, who's not as fond of being bothered. My three cats, Saix, Soccer, and Asher, who don't mind dogs have never done more than playfully bat our dogs on the nose and are all very friendly. If I need to, I will keep the cats away from the other animals. If you should want your dog to stay with me, I have a considerable-sized house and a huge yard for your baby to play on.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. For more, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
