First, I became very sick shortly after this job was completed and I completely spaced leaving a review until I logged back in nearly a year later to use this site for another job. My sincere apologies. The review I would have left is below. Contractor was great. Finished project quickly in spite of running into some unconventional construction in the wall that would have made it difficult for me or a less knowledgeable contractor to complete the job. He was friendly and communication ahead of the job date prevented any confusion. He let me know that if I had any issues with the work or if I would like the wires to be hidden within the wall, he would be happy to come back out and take care of it. Would absolutely hire again.

Shaun helped me out in a pinch, I needed someone asap and he squeezed me in. He even fixed a major electrical subpanel issue that another contractor wired incorrectly, and stayed until he got it all done. And at a reasonable cost! He knows how to do most everything, does good work, is intelligent, honest, professional and personable. I will continue to hire Shaun and am glad I found him on here.

Dan was a pleasure to work with and his crew was very professional and courteous. They performed a complete tear off of 2 layers of shingles and installed the new roof in 2 days for my large ranch house. I would strongly recommend using Dan for your house construction projects because I know I will in the future. Jim

Travis and his crew recently performed some remodeling, restoration work in my home in Delaware, OH and I couldn't be happier. I found Travis to be very knowledgeable, professional, prompt and easy to deal with. He did the impossible by matching the new floorboard color with my 51 year-old floorboards. And Travis also installed porcelain tile in 3 of my rooms and I have already gotten compliments on the look of the tile. He even completed the job a day ahead of the estimated time. Travis also stopped by a few days after the job was completed to check to see if everything was okay, and offered to rehang a door, fix a hole in my drywall, and install more floorboards over and above what I expected. I would recommend The Master's Hands to anyone who wants their job done by a professional, knowledgeable, all around great guy!! Kyle Compton Delaware, OH

Brian and Zach stay true to their business name “BUZY”!! I had a few different quotes for some framing and drywall work I needed. I am very glad I chose Buzy as they came in and not only did what I asked but gave me a few pointers on some of the work I was doing and did some extra projects. Their overall remodeling knowledge and professionalism is great. I would and will definitely be recommending these guys for any home remodeling projects my family and or friends have. Their prices were unbeatable for the quality of workmanship they provide. I will update with pictures later. Thank you Brian and Zach!!

I had a nightmare of a roofing project... think 1st story flat roof with 2nd story deck over it with maybe 4 inches of clearance... Many contractors came to bid it...and said "no thanks." PG Contracting took the job understanding the challenges, kept me informed through the process, and demonstrated excellent workmanship... problem solved - dry house. The crew was professional, polite, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. I'll be using them for all my future home improvement needs.

Jason was employed to remodel our upstairs master bedroom and bath through a Designer that we had contracted with to do the job. The work that Jason performed was nothing short of excellent. Very knowledgeable in all aspects of the project (construction, electrical, plumbing, tile, etc.) with a fine attention to detail and perfection. I also did not feel that his costs for time and materials was reasonable and did not nickle and dime us for minor cahnges made as the project progressed. I highly recommended Majestic Remodeling for any remodeling efforts you may have and have passed his business cards onto to several friends that have remodeling projects in their future house plans.

I found Tom Medvin to be extremely professional and helpful with my project. He arrived on time to give me an estimate and took a lot of time to ask questions about the project and my house. The interest he showed in the project was more than I expected, since it wasn't very large, and he took the time to answer all my questions. The price he quoted was very reasonable and I would not hesitate to use him again or refer him to someone.

Very responsive and professional. Hired him to install some doors but turned into remodeling the majority of the outside of my house. Good quality work and always keeping me updated with texts and pictures, also very helpful with ideas and giving his professional input where it helps best.

Al Wilson did a lot of work in my home. Scraped, sanded and painted all the walls. Repaired walls and ceiling in bathroom. Repaired stairs, layed carpet in 2 bedrooms and living room. I am very pleased with the work he did and he was very reasonable when it came to cost. I would recommend Al Wilson all day.

They tore up all of our old flooring, laminate, tile, and carpet. They worked very efficiently and cleaned up the work area better than I had anticipated. Derek is fantastic to work with. I went on to hire him for some trim carpentry work, which I am also very happy with and will use him in the future for all of our home improvements projects.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Why should you hire a contractor?

Hiring a general contractor is a good idea for many remodeling projects. Home renovation contractors have a broad range of skills to manage, coordinate and complete a project. They should help make sure your project comes in on time and within your budget as they hire and supervise all the necessary subcontractors, including electricians and plumbers. They also handle procuring all the materials required for your job. Some homeowners look to save money by acting as their own contractor, but an experienced home renovation contractor is worth the cost. They should know local building codes, be able to pull all necessary permits, and work with inspectors to make sure the construction meets local codes. Also, because they get professional discounts, they can typically buy materials at a better price than you can; better prices on materials and labor save you money, and make up for at least a percentage of the cost of the contractor.

Do I need a contractor for a kitchen remodel?

A kitchen remodel is one of the most important investments you can make in your home, and it’s critical to get the details right; that’s where a home renovation contractor comes in. A minor remodel usually includes new cabinet faces and hardware, replacement appliances, and paint, while an extensive job may enlarge the kitchen’s square footage, install new cabinets or an island, change the layout, and lay new tile or hardwood floors. Any renovation that includes filing permits, construction, or electrical or plumbing work is best completed by an experienced contractor who knows local codes.

How much will it cost to remodel my house?

The cost to remodel a home is highly variable — size and scope of the project, quality of materials, and the number of subcontractors required to complete the job all affect the total cost. The average national cost of a home renovation project is $13,500. The national average per-square-foot cost of a remodel ranges from $25 to $100. Nationally, kitchen and bathroom remodels are the most popular types of projects, in part because they typically have the highest return on investment when the home is sold. The national average cost of a major kitchen remodel ranges from $25,000 to $62,000, while the average bathroom remodel tends to cost $6,000 to $18,000. In addition to materials and labor costs, many remodeling project costs include permit fees, which, average $900 or more, depending on your location.

When should you hire a contractor?

A few home remodeling projects can be done by an ambitious DIY-minded homeowner or local handyman, but many are best completed by a professional home renovation contractor. You should hire a contractor when you’re planning a large project that takes time, machinery or large tools, and several workers; a kitchen remodel, new bathroom or home addition will be most successful with a licensed, expert contractor at the helm. It’s particularly important to have a professional contractor on board for construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC projects that require inspections to meet local building codes. Of course, you can hire a contractor for smaller projects, too, if you prefer to let an expert handle things like addition or removal of a wall, small framing projects, or anything that requires a permit.

You should hire a contractor when you’re ready to start a remodeling project and you have plans, a budget and a timeline for the work in hand, but before any remodeling work begins.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
