We had to re-schedule an appraisal for the cost of the project and he actually came on a Sunday. Texted me when he was on his way, he came on time and gave us an estimate. A part had to be ordered and Toni let us know when it came and again was on time for the repair. He was quick with the repair, very polite and cleaned up after he finished. Very pleased and we recommend Toni!

I recently had a new driveway, sidewalk and 10' x 20' pad behind my garage installed by Safe Guard Renovations. Dave Rogers, the owner of the company is a young ambitious professional. I was skeptical at first because he had only been in business for five years but there is no doubt that he had been exposed to this trade for many years prior. Dave employ's true tradesman, his main concern was to make me happy as the customer. The tear out, install and finish was done in three days. I couldn't be happier. I had some concerns and questions after the job was done and paid for, so I texted Dave and within five minutes he called me back. All is good. I would like to make mention of some of his guys as I said he has some extremely skilled tradesmen working for him. Mike, who was the senior of them all would spend time with me while I was micromanaging the project (getting in their way) and reassure me that the guys that were on the job know exactly what they're doing. Shane, is there master plumber who will repair, relocate and tie in all your drains and who also has an extensive back ground in the cement trades. Som, this man is a bull and will take charge of the cement pour and finishing, complete professional. There are many others but just can’t remember their names. Bottom line, I would recommend Safe Guard Renovations for your cement needs.

Carl and Sam were terrific. My experience working with them was all positive. I needed help installing some electrical appliances and creating a new outlet in our attic. Carl was extremely polite and efficient. His prices are very reasonable, he is friendly, and he is a true professional. I hope to hire him again in the future as he appears to do just about any kind of work you need. Very impressed all around!

i have difficult time to find a worker to replace my slanted Sun Room glass ceiling(top), but Paul and his worker (matt?) have no problem of promise fixing it at the free estimate session. Matt and his father came to the site the immediate Saturday. The repair was great so was the price. However, the gutter cleaning (additional job) needed my reminder to Matt's father that the gutter was not cleaned. After my reminder, Matt at once cleaned the gutter to my satisfaction. Matt also reattached my chandelier in my front hall way for free. Wonderful price and good work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
