FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing system is based on the project and it's intended outcome. First thing I need to know is your budget. If I feel I can do this job within your budget we can talk further. My starting rate is $500 for an engineer and a 24 track recording system. There are extra pieces that you may need to rent to make your show a success based on the venues' equipment. Just call me and trust me when I say you need something and it cost this much.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My continuing education right now has been You Tube, NAMM, B&H Photo Video, and the Sweetwater Catalog. Knowing what gear is new and changing helps you develop your future purchases for you studio. I pride myself in trying to never be caught off guard with not knowing a piece of gear my clients are talking about. It's been hard trying to work with people that have been recording for 30 years because they have experience with many of the classic analog machines and processors that have been out of production for twenty years. Trying to understand what a Fairchild 670 sounds like or can do is hard when they don't make them anymore. You can't rent them and to buy them is $30,000. I have to try and emulate that sound using other analog processors and digital plugins.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
My most common job right now is live audio recording and engineering. I travel all over the country running audio. I do microphone and equipment rentals, guest sound engineering, and panel discussions for events involving songwriters and musicians. I love working with people that want to learn about audio and am willing to help teach right now.
