Introduction: What sets me apart from most healing arts practitioners is that I have academic training in Family Systems and Transpersonal Psychology. I've practiced as a licensed psychotherapist for over 20 years and bring the knowledge attained from work into my healing arts practice. What I like most is witnessing the transformation people undergo through the process of healing to resolve their issues and create greater well-being in their lives. I consider it an honor to be trusted assisting in this process that often involves experiencing painful emotions as part of healing work.

It's difficult to describe in words how bad I felt after our last session. Started off well but then rapidly went down hill. She was always late, never acknowledged or apologized for it. Was insecure in her work and projected onto the clients. Was blaming and shaming. Just a terrible experience!

I found Theresa to be highly insightful. Her information was very helpful, considering I came in with no specific question. She was quick to point out topics that were relevant and her suggestions were very grounded. I felt great afterwards and continue to resonate with the session days later.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Having practiced as a licensed psychotherapist for over 20 years I realized that the medical model of healing in the field of psychology was insufficient for creating the long-term change my clients desired. As a result I went back to school for consciousness studies. I became a student in the East-West Psychology department of the California Institute of Integral studies. Here I learned not only about East-West perspectives and practices but about Transpersonal Psychology, Ecopsychology, and the transpersonal work of C.G. Jung. This education gave me a broader theoretical framework with which to practice. I then was trained in hypnotherapy to learn additional skills for how to put this information into practice. My personal path has been informed by Celtic Shamanism and nature-based spirituality.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Interview more than one practitioner. Look for those who offer free initial consultations either in person or on the phone. This helps you to see how well you would work together. Ask for referrals, a confident and competent professional will be happy to offer you alternatives to working with them.
