FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Having practiced as a licensed psychotherapist for over 20 years I realized that the medical model of healing in the field of psychology was insufficient for creating the long-term change my clients desired. As a result I went back to school for consciousness studies. I became a student in the East-West Psychology department of the California Institute of Integral studies. Here I learned not only about East-West perspectives and practices but about Transpersonal Psychology, Ecopsychology, and the transpersonal work of C.G. Jung. This education gave me a broader theoretical framework with which to practice. I then was trained in hypnotherapy to learn additional skills for how to put this information into practice. My personal path has been informed by Celtic Shamanism and nature-based spirituality.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Interview more than one practitioner. Look for those who offer free initial consultations either in person or on the phone. This helps you to see how well you would work together. Ask for referrals, a confident and competent professional will be happy to offer you alternatives to working with them.
