The light fixture could not be taken apart, so Michael had to tip in upside down and reach inside dodging hot light bulbs. It's very clean! The windows and tracks are clear. Carol said she even removed some paint from them. She also pointed out a problem between the panes of one of the windows. I was aware of it and it's being replaced on the 22nd. Great Job! And they even loved my Beagles!

Chris was great to work with. He arrived on time and worked quickly and efficiently. Hired him initially for the replacement of 3 toilets and have him returning for other work around the house (paint, millwork demo, etc).

I just bought a large house that had lots of dark red, green, gold, taupe, and blue interior paint (it all needed to go). I wanted to paint the entire interior a warm white with some areas in soft light greens. There was also quite a few significant cracks in the wall to be fixed. It was going to be a big job and a challenge to cover such dark strong colors with much lighter paint. I chose A&C Innovative Contractors and I am so happy with their work! It looks so amazing and turned out exactly how I wanted. A&C Innovative Contractors gave me a great deal and I cannot recommend them enough.

They finished my roof a couple of months ago. The whole process was great. From the time Jose came to give me the estimate, to the follow up by Armando the Project Manager, to the working crew. They worked hard, cleaned up every day after work, and finished the job in the expected time. I highly recommend them. No wonder they have so many positive reviews. These guys are professionals with a very competitive pricing. Look no further. Update Aug. 13: Given the excellent job Giron did with my roof replacement I hired them to paint the exterior of the house. Again the process was smooth, the price was right and the painting crew did a tremendous job. These guys are professionals so I highly recommend them for any new roof/painting job.

I was looking for some one to tape, mud and sand the drywall I installed in my laundry room so all I would have to do is paint. I sent in a request to Thumbtack and Tim Duclos from All About Wallz called me within 10 minutes (he was the first to respond). He came out the next day, gave me an estimate and I hired him on the spot. I had read his reviews (all good) and he gave me the lowest bid by far (I had gotten several other bids after he called). He showed up on time, worked on the room over the course of 2 days (working around our schedule), cleaned up afterward, and was polite and professional. I was very happy with his work. I even asked him to fix another small hole in a hallway and put up some door trim while he was here and he did it without raising his original estimate! I gave him a bonus anyway for his extra work and I will call on him again as I continue to remodel. I highly recommend him.

Damas Painting recently painted my kitchen cabinets. We cannot say enough good things about these guys! The crew that Fernando sent was very professional and clean. Being at home with my two children I always felt very comfortable during the entire process. We changed my cabinets from a stain finish to an off white paint finish. I was a little nervous at first when going over the process but they turned out amazing! I would highly recommend Fernando and Jose for cabinet refinishing. Thanks guys!

We hired Alfredo to paint our entire home, including ceilings! From day one of obtaining a quote, Alfredo was very much a professional with superior work ethics. He and his crew quoted just a little over a week to complete this job, and stuck to his word! He also consulted and provided the best info on paint types and his discount on purchasing paint. During the project, they covered everything to ensure that there was little to no paint splatters on furniture and floors and then cleaned up all plastics and tarps when complete. They took the time to ensure that edged were clean and I have to say - our house looks WONDERFUL! Alfredo was always responsive and even worked a weekend to help us take out a built in desk, and then repair the wall! I will definitely hire him again!

Did an excellent job. They color-matched all my oak cabinets to match what was already in the kitchen. They worked with me in painting molding I had hung myself and in painting a set of cabinets that was veneer instead of real wood, and was difficult to get paint to adhere to. This makes up for them taking longer to start the job than first expected. Would hire again!

We called this company for a bid on scraping and painting the facia around our home and Lino gave us a fair price. He not only gave us a great price but went the extra mile; he scrubbed and washed our gutters, and cleaned them out as he went along. (It was extremely hot outside but he just kept working.) They look so much better, and the paint job is excellent. He also repaired a hole in the gutter, and then he did a sheetrock repair on top of that! It was so nice to not have to call yet anther company to do that repair! We will definitely be calling this polite, energetic owner of Home Solutions for all our handy man needs in the future.

Darwin and his crew did a phenomenal job. He was responsive, punctual and professional. They got an old deck and stairway looking better than new, by taking the time to prep it as well as paint. Would highly recommend Diaz!

We had Malle Painting spray paint our new kitchen cabinets this week. The painters were prompt, courteous, neat and efficient. The cabinets turned out great and the painting was a good value. I would use their services again.

I will never be able to write a glowing enough review. My project was extra complicated and had bumps along the way but Vik just rolled with the punches. We had lots of dark colors and a large variety of them. He followed our directions perfectly. There was no bleed over and the colors had crisp lines. I LOVE how well it all turned out. I can't imagine letting anyone else paint in our house.

My new paint looks great. They did a perfect job at cutting in my dark wall colors against the white ceiling which I was worried about. Unfortunately they went overtime and weren’t able to get everything done by the date I needed it which delayed my move a day. They were very apologetic about it. The only issue with the work quality was the baseboards and doors. Some of the baseboards were not primed or painted till the last day and they got gummy because they put on coats too close together and spots were missed. Some of the doors didn’t get covered well. But that was it considering they painted my entire interior. Otherwise their work was great!

Carlos is a very professional hard worker & made my dining room look better than brand new! He is extremely timely & kept constant contact with me on every aspect of the job. He worked with me with great concern for my happiness with the job. Always asking if everything was up to my specifications. He works quickly and efficiently. He put in extra work to caulk all the corners & cracks that we're visible in my old farmhouse (built in 1891) so that the lines were clean & seamless. He even caulked along an inner window edge that was loosening. I can't say enough about how pleased I am. I plan to hire him again to repaint my living room within the next year. Not only is his work really great at a totally reasonable & fair price, but more importantly, he's a good guy & truly cares about your happiness in the end & is willing to go the extra mile to make sure you receive nothing less! Very pleased.

Did a good job finishing the drywall and it looks nice. My only complaint is that no barrier/plastic was put up to block the dust from going everywhere while sanding.

This group of workers are all very professional. They did a great job of wallpaper removal, texturing the, now bare, walls, and painting. They are very conscientious about keeping things clean. Not a,single, drop of paint was dripped. Chance is very dependable.

Great job Michael. I have no complaints from my very close neighbors. Job clean up was excellent. He did it all by himself, which is amazing. The job containment was great. He also provided a primer and two top coats of paint on the body and the trim. I will definitely hire Michael for future jobs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
