Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I have been coaching in the Portland Metro area for over 7 years. While 75% of my past clients have been over 40 years old and most have had minor health issues, I have also coached two female powerlifters who set Oregon state records. The majority of my clients train at Loprinzi’s Gym in SE. I am, however, available for park and in-home sessions throughout the city and have privileges at private gyms in Tigard and Beaverton. Whether you are looking for an introduction to strength training or ready to regain an athletic lifestyle you once lead, hiring a professional coach will help you reach your goals faster and safer than doing it by yourself. Internet, DVD and magazine-based workouts are written to impress readers and appeal to a large population. They are unable to correct mistakes in technique or adapt training when life suddenly changes or injuries pop up. How could a fitness writer or DVD producer you've never met know what you are capable of or need to do to reach your goals? How can these people know what is happening in your life? Individualized fitness programs are designed specifically for you. The program we design together factors in your current level of physical fitness, your exercise experience, and your short- and long-term goals. Weight loss, increased strength or body mass, better sport performance, and improved overall health are all achievable through hard work and proper program design. A good coach also knows that life stress can affect your training and is able to adjust your daily workout to be the most effective it can be. The initial consultation is free.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Shane was an amazing coach and I would recommend him to anybody beginning or even advanced in fitness. My friend who was training with Shane referred me to him because my goal was to compete in my first Powerlifting competition without prior training experience. She also had nothing but good things to say about him. He was really knowledgeable and clearly knew what he was doing. I was confident that he wasn't like other trainers/coaches out there, who just bullshit their clients. He was extremely helpful in helping me correct my form/technique with two main goals; to effectively lift heavy and train safely to prevent injury. He was very supportive and pushed me past my limits. But he knew just where to draw the line, to be sure I wasn't going to hurt yourself. I was the stubborn client who thought constantly busting my ass was going to get me far. But he taught me how to train smart. Making sure I was hitting rest periods, eating good and resting good. At first I didn't trust that approach to it, but noticed how great I was feeling and how quickly I was progressing when I would listen to his advice. Starting every workout he'd ask how I was feeling, how I slept, and how my diet was going. Sometimes life happens; long work days, poor diets, and stress. I'd feel really discouraged and mad when my lifts weren't going the way I wanted, but he knew how to keep me confident and motivated. One thing that set him aside from other trainers, is that he didn't clock out after the 1 hour sessions. He'd send me home with workouts to do on my other training days. Then he'd constantly text me to see how the workouts went, or critique me from videos I'd email him. He was very easy going and flexible with schedules and payments. I trained with him once a week for 6 months. Prior to this I didn't know much of powerlifting, never trained for it nor competed. But he really pushed me far. In my meet I took 1st in my weight class and a few state records. I couldn't have done it without him! He's a really great coach/trainer in every aspect!

Shane is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He'll design workouts to meet your conditioning goals, but I'd say his specialty is strength training - functional, real world strength. Our workouts incorporated med balls, battle ropes, kettle bells - all the good stuff.

Bottom line, the man will help you get results. As a personal trainer Shane is excellent at listening to YOUR fitness objectives and tailoring your workout regimen to meet those goals (I had another friend working with Shane at the same time who had different objectives and as a result was doing different workouts). He will also make sure you are actually enjoying the workouts you are doing and tweak things as necessary. After working with Shane I was leaner and stronger and on a good path to continue that progress on my own.

Shane was an amazing coach and I definitely recommend him to anyone that is wanting to gain strength or lift weights. I met Shane and told him I wanted to reach the 500 club. I'm a little petite: 4'11" at 115lbs so this was a big deal for me! We trained for 16 weeks and I really commend him for helping me surpass my goal - with good technique. One thing that I felt put Shane apart from other trainers was that we only met once a week but he gave out workout plans that I would do for the rest of the week. He even checked up on me on those days as well to see how I was feeling/the workout went. Shane was also very flexible with our meetings, which worked well for me because I didn't have a set schedule for work. I majored in Exercise and Sports Science so it felt good to work with a trainer/coach that understood what he was talking about and didn't give me a bunch of BS workouts that didn't help me improve in my strength. He has a very well educated background in the strength and conditioning field and I felt his enthusiasm for me to succeed as well.

Shane was exactly what I was looking for. He was easily able to accommodate my fitness needs as well as attend to my personal strengths. After looking at several different trainers Shane was by FAR the most affordable, and frankly, he was the easiest to communicate with. He was very flexible with scheduling and location, as well as very open and up front about his ideals. He's clearly educated and knows what he is talking about. Not only did I work out, I learned about why certain work outs are beneficial. After just a month I'm taking away so much new knowledge as well as physical strength. And on a side note, the dude is awesome and fun to hang out with. A++ You wont be disappointed if you use Shane Chokey. He will work with you to help meet your unique goals. He has the skill and knowledge to benefit a wide range of fitness needs.
