Introduction: At Inner Gate Acupuncture we are trained in numerous types of acupuncture. For this reason, we are able to match the acupuncture technique with the specifics of the patient we are are treating. Some patients are very anxious about the needles, so we do a low impact, gentle treatment. Others, such as those suffering from sports related injuries, prescribe to the notion of "no pain, no gain." They expect to "feel a lot" and so we can use a focused, trigger point style technique with them. Understanding not only the complaint, but also the needs and wants of the patient in front of you is something we strive to achieve with every patient.
The best part of being an acupuncturist is helping patient recover from the complaint that brought them in while have no concerns that our medicine has side effects. Sometimes that is as simple as helping a sore back or an achy elbow heal. More often, it entails spending time with the patient, answer questions and helping them learn how they can bring about changes in their own lives that will prevent further problems; exercises, diet changes, stress management techniques, referrals to other like minded health care practitioners.
