He was helping me complete a bathroom remodel in my home. It was tiling a tub/shower enclosure. I had done the prep work for the wall and removing the tub, but was burnt out after that and other related bathroom projects. He was very professional with an excellent attention to detail and a good understanding shown for best approaches. Andy also had some good ideas for finishing touches which looked good. The quality overall was professional and thorough. He also installed bead board and trim for wall wains coating. He spent 11 hours on the whole job. He was on time, knowledgeable, and showed a good work ethic. We were very pleased with the results. He is also a very friendly, easy person to work with. We obtained the materials. It would have helped if estimates for additional material were figured more accurately. We had to make a couple extra trips, but they weren't far away.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally time and material is how most of my projects work out. I will do bids on everything, but generally I run $40/hour. I include about a 15% cost to the material to cover the ordering and pick up, returns or warrantee/guarantee coverage of different materials. This can be eliminated if the client picks up or has all the product delivered.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I subscribe to Fine Homebuilding magazine, read up on many latest and greatest gadgets and products, and field test a lot of design ideas. Most continuing education comes from Contractor Shows at area lumber yards, showcasing the newest caulking, or decking, or how to projects.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in it. My dad has done it his whole life and provided well for a family of nine. I actually got out of it to go to college for Sports Medicine, put myself through by doing construction on the side, and once I was finished with education, went back into it.
