Services provided were electrical in nature: change all light switches & outlet plugs; install new closet light; install new basement lights on existing circuit; install new dedicated light switch for additional kitchen light and so on. Additionally, he helped repair and re-install door handles and locks in a 2925 craftsman bungalow. Work was done professionally, methodically and efficiently. Prompt, good communication and a pleasure to work with. Will use again for future projects
I highly recommend Song. He is personable, knowledgeable and very professional. We had a custom table that got damaged and legs became very unstable. Song presented two options for the fix. He did a great job and I am pleased with the results. My experience with Gravity NW was a 10. Hire this guy.
Ed is a master craftsman. He took my 90 year old Duncan Phyfe dining table and, without sanding it down entirely to refinish it (the cost wasn't warranted) he worked it and worked it until it looked like the elegant piece of furniture that it was decades ago. The table really was quite a mess. He hand-filled each of the 300 dings and dents with lacquer -- sometimes by dipping a needle into the medium then delicately working it into the ding. I was astounded by the transformation, and utterly grateful for the care Ed took. I highly recommend Ed Reinstein for any kind of fine woodworking need you might have. Janet B.
Greg Simons has provided excellent quality service and product on a number of projects. As an architect working in Portland, I have involved Greg on projects with very specific requirements. On a custom built staircase, Greg utilized parts made on a CNC mill to my exact specification, and installed in a short 3 day period. The quality was exact and the schedule and install time both came in below budget. For a high end restaurant nearing completion, Greg was able to offer assistance to complete a long list of items that had been missed in the General Contractors bid. His willingness to work with the client at a crucial time and to complete items necessary for opening was immensely helpful. I have also had Greg fabricate two separate custom millwork projects. I enthusiastically recommend Gregs product quality and service on high-end woodworking projects.
We hired John to build cabinets for a complete custom kitchen remodel project and two custom bathrooms. The cabinets are all solid plywood and finished in a beautiful figured walnut. John’s attention to detail is nothing short of stellar! He matched the grain patterns from the top cabinets to the bottom cabinets and all the trim was perfectly cut and installed. Our project was quite extensive and because of the very fine quality of work we even had John finish five custom solid core doors for us. From the doors, to the custom freestanding oven hood, it’s all top quality work! Needless to say, I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in artisan quality work! John is a true craftsman. Was minor job of resetting a deck support. Olvera crew showed up within an hour of bid and made permanent repairs. Competing bid from Home Advisor was $600... Olvera did it for $80. Very fair price for the work. Seems most companies looking only for big jobs... home owners need small jobs fixed too.
Jacque designed and built for me a custom dining room table that is simply amazing! I'm an electrical engineer and I wanted a table that somehow represented my work in designing printed circuit boards. Jacque took a circuit board I designed, extracted the key elements, and beautifully created a table with different kinds of inlaid wood that represented the holes, vias, and traces of one of my favorite product designs. I was so impressed with the final result that I'm now having her make a matching breakfast table for my kitchen. Jacque was professional, easy to work with, very competitively priced, completed the table in a timely manner, and the entire experience from initial design to delivery was a truly positive experience.
Stacey was great to work with throughout the whole project. She was timely, responsive, courteous, and thoughtful. I had her design a custom fireplace screen which she installed into my brick fireplace. We had multiple conversations/emails so that I could get the design just the way I imagined it. She came back a few times for test fits and then would go back to the shop and make adjustments. I love it! Thank you Stacey!
We remodeled a recently purchased 1970's home. We raised the living room floor, removed a raised floor in the master bedroom, replaced all the floors with hardwood, moved the washer and dryer to a different location, installed recessed lighting, changed all of the interior doors, changed an interior cedar wall to an amazing feature wall and painted the interior. We used IBI as the contractor for our remodeling. The quality of work was excellent. The work was completed on budget except for change orders that we made during construction. When changes were needed we received bids, negotiated the work to be completed and electronically accepted the changes before any work was done. The workers on our project were excellent and professional. They continually asked us questions to be sure the work was done to meet our needs. They gave us advice and helped us make the right decisions. They were pleasant and made the experience fun. We weren't living in the house when the project was done, but we never felt uncomfortable about leaving knowing that the workers were going to do the right thing. We learned to be patient as there were delays. Sub-contractors were not always available, IBI had other clients that had deadlines that needed to be met; however, we had regular communications on reasons for delays and when they anticipated completion of tasks in the project. We have recommended IBI to friends and IBI would be our first contact if we need a contractor.
I don't typically write reviews unless the service and the outcome of the project exceeds my expectations. Well, I have been working with Makers Woodworks LLC on a handful of projects and the service I received along with the outcome more than exceeded my expectations. My requirements for these projects were extremely stringent but they were still able to come up with innovative solutions while meeting my project deadlines and at my cost targets. I would recommend this company to anyone especially if you have a custom, challenging project.

Right now, I am building patio furniture in my shop. Previously, I owned a remodeling company, a water line company, and a roofing company. I was a journeyman carpenter and foreman with the carpenters' union. I was a superintendent in the private sector and a project manager up until the depression, when most, if not all, construction ended. I had been a commercial fisherman in Alaska and a gold miner. I have an old-school work ethic, but my best qualities, I feel, are my demand for perfection -- which means 'good enough' is not in my vocabulary -- and my knack for solving problems -- for instance, in my shop if I can't find or buy something I need, I can make it.
