Introduction: My name is Geoffrey Kuhrts and I own and operate Woodland Renovation. I provide the highest level of craftsmanship and professionalism, working together with homeowners on projects from planning to completion. I have over twenty years experience in the remodeling industry, and have worked on a variety of projects from small custom carpentry built-ins to complete home renovations. I take the health and safety of homeowners very seriously. I am fully vaccinated and follow current Covid-19 CDC guidelines including masking while in customer’s homes, frequent hand washing, and sanitizing work areas at the end of the day.

Wow, I cannot say enough good things about Geoffrey and Woodland Renovation. We've been working on remodeling our fireplace and have had the most frustrating experience trying to get contractors to finish their work. At the end of the project, I was left with several small jobs that needed doing (but were beyond my skill level). I found Geoffrey on Thumbtack and decided to send him a message. I wasn't optimistic he'd respond (because everyone I'd worked with previously had been terrible communicators) but Geoffrey responded quickly, asked questions to assess if he could help, and immediately added me to his schedule. He reached out a few days prior to confirm our appointment, clearly communicated about his fees and expectations, and then showed up on time the day he said he was available. Sounds simple, but if you're familiar with Portland contractors, you know this is really miraculous! Geoffrey completed the work over two days, purchased all of the supplies he needed, and communicated with us openly throughout about what he was doing and what he needed from us. The finished product is top-notch and the whole experience was painless. We are keeping Geoffrey on speed dial and will absolutely recommend his company to our friends and family! 10/10 would recommend 🥳

Geoffrey was incredibly helpful when we were trying to decide what kind of flooring to put down in our kitchen. After asking me about our goals for the floor and kitchen he suggested more affordable options for the short term, until we would be remodeling later on. He gave us his expertise on our current floor and the most reasonable options for installing new flooring, which essentially meant not hiring him to tile the floor! Nevertheless he was honest and upfront about what might be best for our needs and our budget and he was 100% right. Because of his integrity, I’d hire him in a heartbeat when we’re ready to tile these floors!

Woodland Renovation was great. Geoffrey ticked all the boxes: Value, professionalism, responsiveness, punctuality and work quality. He responded right away to our inquiry and follow up emails, followed through with appointments and arrived on time to them, every time. He did NOT price gouge us and did great work. After many failed attempts to contact other 'professionals', it was a relief and a small miracle to find someone who respected us and our home. We've found our home project guy for life!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $75.00 an hour for my labor cost for hourly work. Fixed price projects are bid with the same hourly rate.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Generally I will talk with a new customer over Thumbtack messenger or on the phone first to see if there project is a good fit and then I will come out and give an estimate. For smaller projects I tend to simply work on a time and material basis and for larger projects over 2,500 I will give a fixed quote and draw up a contract.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working in residential remodeling for over twenty years. I have worked in San Diego, Maine, Boston, and Portland. I have done just about everything in the building trades from frame to finish. My strongest and most unique skills are in fine finish work i.e. finish carpentry and tile setting and that is the main focus of my business.
