Bake My Day cooked all of the food for our wellness retreat in Asheville. We provided them with ingredient guidelines and they developed the entire wellness menu of tasty and savory food. They kept on schedule and were so incredibly pleasant to work with. I'd definitely recommend them! I'm still dreaming about their homemade salad dressing mmmmm.

I hired Turk Because of his outstanding experience and knowledge. I have been training with him for about 3 months now and I am already getting amazing results. He is fun, and very motivating.I am absolutely NOT a morning person but, Turk motivates me so much to wake up at 6:30 in the morning and do cardio before work. He cares about my safety and makes sure that I do the exercises correctly. We even worked out together one day which was very helpful because I got to watch him do his own routine workouts.. Turk has taught me so much already from how to do the exercises right to diet and nutrition.I have learned things that I did not know before even after taking college level health, nutrition, and PE classes. I highly recommend Turk to anyone. you will definitely get the results you are looking for with Turk.

Alison has been terrific to work with. We have used her in a few different capacities in the last 2 weeks...private chef for a dinner party, caterer for a holiday cocktail party and chef for delivered meals. Her food has been delicious, and she is really easy to work with. She is open to suggestions and will also give her opinion on what she thinks will work best depending on the event. She is quick to respond, always professional and reasonably priced. I plan on using her again and recommend you give her a try.

I've worked with a number of trainers throughout my life but have never had one as dedicated to my success as Travis. His approach is 360 - From Fitness to Nutrition to Sleep and beyond. I'm only a month in and am already making a dent in my goals. Three enthusiastic thumbs up :)

Emily does an amazing job creating classes that are both a demonstration and hands on. They are fun, interactive and so knowledgeable! I have participated in both types of classes and everyone agrees how much fun they had, how much they learned and how great everything tasted. She is passionate about foods that are full of nutrition, taste and not difficult to prepare. You will be so excited to try her recipes and ideas. Emily loves to share her love for foods that are both healthy and creative. You won't be disappointed!

I have trained with Felton for over 3 years. I train with him so I can be a better runner. He keeps me strong and helps me stay injury-free. With his help, I've run numerous half marathons and full marathons. He also helps me be aware of how I treat myself when I am not training. The food I eat is more diverse and overall healthier. I am a 41-year-old wife and mom who works full time, so trust me, my diet is FAR from perfect. I still go thru the drive-thru way more than I should. But Felton encourages me to take a step back and look at the big picture. Stop beating myself up for “setbacks.” Instead listen to my body and know that some days will be healthier than others. All my days now work together to create a more complete, happier and fitter person.

She helped me figure out that my digestion and my cheese intolerance were creating havoc in my body and showing up on my skin. I am now a regular skincare and nutrition client. I love the holistic practices too! So Green!

Caitlin was terrific! She wants to know your needs before she starts her interview with you, so as to focus her interview totally on what you need and are looking for in nutritional help. Her recipes are quick and very easy, and are amazingly tasty! In just two hours she prepared seven dishes with detailed information on what each food item offers as nutritional properties, and explained just how to prepare each dish. She was lively and entertaining and very professional. I look forward to her next workshop!!

I met Dawn through the internet and I didn't really know what to expect. When I met Dawn for my consultation she was very polite, friendly, energetic, caring, and inspiring. She explained how she breaks down her training and we agreed on a plan, based on what results I was looking to achieve. She asked me some questions pertaining to who I was as an individual, my goals, my hobbies, & my lifestyle. I currently am still training with Dawn and have been for almost three months. Which I started doing the insanity workout and couldn't even make it past the 2month period, so this is big. I had told her I wanted to do a workout thats the same as insanity, but not everyday and not high intensity. She made a workout to fit my needs, my requests, and it's always different. Not only do I still train, but I've lost over 10 pounds in her 21day clean lean program. Her 21day clean lean program helped me weed out the bad food in my diet and be more aware of things to avoid as well as how much I should be eating. It energized me to also try a lot of new meals that I would've never tried on my own being a typical college kid. I really love training with her, I've become a lot more stronger and am continuing to shed the pounds. During her trainings I don't notice the pain, because I'm having fun and the time just flies by. She's very smart too. She explains why she chooses certain exercises, how they affect the muscles, and makes sure they are always done correctly. I've found from my past experience trainers are usually all about the money too. I trained with someone that as soon as they found out I didn't have the money they wanted to get from me they dropped me. Dawn is very caring, she has gone out of her way to provide a schedule thats cost efficient to me without me even saying anything. She always considers my work and school schedule. She's very motherly and she'll help you meet your goals if you let her. She has a lot to offer and I highly recommend her.

Rick Browne's expertise in all facets of cooking are outstanding, but are particularly impressive in all things related to BBQ. By that, I mean grilling, smoking, and the preparation of foods being considered. He blends experience developed over years to create classics, from Baked Alaska for intimate dinner parties of 25 guests, to smoking a suckling pig on an indirect smoker to serve 200 people. Well versed in kitchen technique, he is an astute chef that has a very rare recognition degree of a Doctorate in BBQ from some prestigious societies in the trade. RIck is an engaging conversationalist at every event I have been a part of with him, espousing his knowledge of food and wine pairings to the guests enjoyment.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
