Brittany of RCP did a great job, and accommodated me at the last minute--literally making arrangements with me the day before I left. I strongly suspect I'll be back.

Heather is professional, friendly and awesome! She goes out of her way to provide the best service and truly cares deeply about her clients. When I went out of the country twice in two months Heather came every other day to soend time with my anxious kitty and even sent me pictures and videos. It was so nice to unwind knowing my girl was happy and well taken care of. She even did some cleaning for me as well!!! Will never use another pet sitter!

Both of our girls age at the time 6 and 11 years of age took lessons from Ann for over a year. Ann was always flexible with our busy schedule from season to season. My girls learned so much about caring for a horse and how to ride. She has a very gentle teaching approach which made our girls very comfortable and eager to keep learning.

Janna at Phoenix Pet care has been a great dog sitter for me in the past year. She was available when I needed her and provided reliable service. Her multiple options for visits/day or overnight stays made it easy to customize the service for what I needed.

Fabulous dog sitter! We have a 13 year old dog with anxiety issues. Our dog had never had anyone watch her except one sitter her whole life. Richard made her feel comfortable in our home for hours. We will definitely be using Richard again.

I have only worked with Karen for about a month now but I am so impressed. I came back to riding after a long time off as a very rusty re-beginner. her human communication and coaching knowledge are clear, professional and caring. Her horse knowledge is way above par and I am learning from her each time. I am very pleased and would highly recommend her and her lesson horses.

I have had nothing but good experiences withahna Bowman's training. I moved my half Arab Warmblood cross to her training two and a half years ago after no progress was being made in her training. Ahna introduced her to over fences and the horse found a job she loves. Now jumping 4 feet and last year won 7 National Championships at two national Arabian Horse Association shows. Ahna has also worked withy son Nate, who has mild cerebral palsy and can only ride dressage with one hand. Under Ahna's guidance, Nate qualified for the Oregon Dressage Society's state championships the first year of showing. Ahna knows how to work patiently with both horses and riders and helps them succeed. She is both a good dressage trainer as well as very knowledgable in training hunter/jumpers.

Laura took great care of our cat while we were away from home multiple times in 2015. She has been a reliable pet sitter for us and we highly recommend her to others. I especially like her insistence that we call her no matter how late when we get home so she knows to stop visiting our pet.

Ashley is awesome! She's so caring and respectful towards the animals and their humans. I have had her stay for overnights to take care of my dogs, horses, and goats and have had her come for midday visits to let the dogs get their wiggles out. I've referred her to many friends and family members and have received excellent feedback about how grateful they are to have someone they trust working with their furkids! Also, having a positive reinforcement dog walker/pet sitter is so crucial for the well being of the animals, so I am very thankful to have found someone who values humane and effective techniques.

About

We offer a fun, safe environment where you can learn horseback riding! At the Horse Sense Riding School, we offer private and small group horseback riding lessons. We love working with students of all ages, whether you are a new student or returning to riding as an adult. In our lessons, you or your child will learn techniques and skills from many different riding styles, and develop strong horsemanship skills. We believe that each rider has different goals and skills, and we design our lesson plans to meet those individual needs. We strive to create a safe and positive environment for learning. Lease options are also available. Our senior horses have come to us as rescues or unwanted horses, and we have re-schooled them to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience possible - while still offering some challenge to more experienced riders. We are committed to providing our horses with forever homes. We have special programs for riders with disabilities, low income families, at risk youth and seniors. We also offer a work exchange program for adult riders seeking more affordable riding options.

About

I love and adore animals. Whether big or small, I love them all. As your personal pet sitter, I will treat your pet as though it were a member of my own furry animal family. While you are away or unable to tend to pet, I will provide your baby or babies with everything you would expect to provide to them yourself: love and affection, feeding and watering, walking (if animal appropriate) and brushing, fun and a good game of chase (also if animal appropriate), as well as meds and subcutaneous fluids if needed. Overnights can be arranged, depending upon my schedule. I service the Beaverton and surrounding area. I look forward to meeting you and spending time with your furry and not-so-furry friends.

About

I have a life long passion for teaching and have over 15 years experience teaching all levels of riders. I have competed horses at a national level in several disciplines so I can offer that show experience to my students. I also grew up riding in a canyon so I love teaching people how to trail ride safely. My kind one on one attention to my students sets me apart from many instructors who expect students to just do as they say. I know I am a great riding instructor because I see my students improve each lesson and they give me great feedback and ask great questions if they don't understand something. I take my students success personally in a good way. If my students are not progressing then I need to improve my teaching skills and style.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
