Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: My eclectic background of having lived in 3 different cultures (the Netherlands: Israel: and the United States), my experience working in the military for 5 years, my teaching background as an adjunct professor, my trauma informed focus on interpersonal neurobiology (body-oriented psychotherapy), my years of experience supervising beginning therapists, my love for the profession. The most gratifying part of helping others is when people feel they are getting themselves back into a place of hope, feeling loved and respected, connected to themselves (mind & body), becoming more creative and resilient.

Dr Lovenstein is one of the most intelligent and compassionate therapists I have had. Our ongoing work is vital and I feel in most competent hands.

Aart guided me through EMDR therapy in a safe and healing environment. I was especially impressed by his breadth of knowledge and by how many resources he provided including support materials, website links and exercise routines. The resources empowered me, taught me how care for myself so that I could get the most out of our therapy sessions and allow me to continue my healing journey on my own time as well.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Besides being in-network with Regence (BCBS, Cigna, Moda and Magellan Health Services), I accept cash pay and 3rd party pay (out of network insurance) in my private practice. This allows me to keep my fees fairly reasonable and my treatment options with you more flexible in terms of duration, frequency, treatment modalities and medical necessity. Furthermore, If you pay cash for a session, no one has to know but you and your therapist. There is no public record of any diagnosis. There is no public record of your time spent there. Your therapist's notes are protected legal documents. Insurance coverage has advantage and disadvantages. My license may be covered by some insurance companies. You must talk to your insurer to determine whether or not my services are covered. At your request, I will provide a statement with all necessary billing and payment information that you can submit to your insurance.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I have learned from my professional experience to date that psychotherapy is a very broad field and it is impossible for any practitioner to master more than a few complimentary modalities of treatment. Based on a combination of my personal interests, my intellectual strength, scieintific research to date, trainings I have had and the needs of my clients, I offer the following treatment modalities and principles in my practice: Treatment Modalities and Principles : Sensori-motor approach teaches clients to follow the inherently intelligent processes of body and mind to promote healing. It is particularly helpful in working with the effects of trauma, abuse and emotional pain. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a complex therapeutic process utilizing eye movements, sound or pulsations to stimulate both hemispheres of the brain. Some clients have described the process as weaving together fragments of thought and memory into a cohesive whole. EMDR can be use to reduce distress as well as increase a sense of self-worth, self-confidence and inner peace. CIMBS (Complex Integration of Multiple Brain Systems). This therapeutic approach is a collaborative journey of exploration to discover how ‘things work’ inside your brain. This means that you will be able to be mindfully aware of your own internal experiences [emotions, desires] so that you can intervene internally and respond to each life situation in a new, unique and contingent way instead of with the same old behaviors and reactions that bring pain in your life. In learning how to be attuned to yourself and others around you, you will achieve a deep kind of emotional intelligence. The quality of your relationships will improve. You will continue growing and changing even after you have completed therapy. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an emotional, needle free version of acupuncture that is based on new discoveries regarding the connection between your body’s subtle energies, your emotions, and your health. EFT has been reported as successful in thousands of cases covering a huge range of emotional, health and performance issues. Alpha-Stim treats depression, anxiety, insomnia and physical pain with tiny electrical currents similar to those found naturally in the body, using a method called cranial and micro electrical current stimulation. These currents have been shown in clinical studies to normalize the electrical output of the brain as well as increase the body’s serotonin and beta endorphin levels. Brain Spotting (BSP) is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotionally/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a sim;utaneous from of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Biolateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing. Somatically Accessed Wisdom (SAW) is a brain-body-heart interface that helps to heal the residue of life’s traumas by accessing the wisdom, intuition and insight that is stored in the body’s experience to create a deeply personal path to greater peace, happiness and harmony. It provides a hands-on approach to mediate stress and distress. SAW empowers creativity, spontaneity and increases a feeling of well-being. is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotionally/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Earthing reconnects the human body with the energy naturally present in the ground we walk on. This will help the balance between the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous system. It can reduce hyper-tension, improve sleep and reduce inflammation and chronic pain. BrainWave Entrainment is an assisted form of meditation using sound or light pulses to bring about deep positive transformation. Think of it like a piano that needs re-tuning in order to play the notes at the right pitch. The process works by 'entraining' the brain to work better and become more in tune with its optimal mode of functioning. Interpersonal Neuro-biology is an inter-disciplinary approach that seeks to help people develop a healthy mind, an integrated brain and empathetic relationships.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Yes, I attend at least 20 hours a year of workshops and trainings in my field of practice. This is also a requirement for my licensure. I attend monthly peer consultations on body-oriented psychotherapy and read the latest research on trauma treatment.
