FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $60 an hour for recording, mixing and mastering. We have other services available such as graphics for CD cover designs, photography, beats for sale etc... The extra services have varying pricing depending on the clients needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After meeting and discussing the clients wishes for their project, we make a basic plan of what and how we will be proceeding to attain the best possible results for the client. With the plan ready we simply make an appointment for them to come in and begin recording. We welcome them into the studio and familiarize them with the available features and studio instruments, isolation booths, mics and preamps etc...making them comfortable, relaxed and ready to do good work.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been involved in music all my life listening to the popular music of the times throughout my childhood. I began playing the drums at ten years old after I saw The Beatles twice live and that got me wanting to play more. I studied drums with Mel Brown of The Temptations and The Supremes for a couple years when I was a teen. I worked at The Paramount Theater and The Memorial Colosseum in the 1970's working security for all the music events and on occasion would drive the stars to and from their hotel or cater to them while they were getting ready for the show or just hanging out. Getting paid to hang out with my idols was so cool. So many great stories. I began playing around with other instruments trying piano, synths, saxophones, guitars, bass, harmonica, flute, percussion and strings over the years and started writing my own music. Played in several bands of rock, jazz, funk, fusion genres and was the founder and producer for The Hicks In The Sticks gatherings in Estacada, Oregon from 1996 through 2001 which were very popular events celebrating life and music with bands playing throughout the weekend. In 1998 another friend of mine and I built and mobile recording truck to record bands on location. (Staircase Recording) I later bought out the friend and started recording in my home which quickly turned into a very cool place to record. I also was renting audio gear out to bars and restaurants, clubs and private parties with another friend of mine and called it "Echo Canyon Productions" . By 2008 I had established my studio as Portland Recording Studio and will be coming up on my 20th year recording this coming April 2018. I have had good success with countless records recorded from dozens of artists from countries around the world and hundreds of nationwide artists and locals. I have composed original music for TV, radio and a couple Hollywood movies. I record all music genre and like everything musical. Big or small projects, commercials, voiceovers, anything audio. I do everything except replication orders so I am the "One Stop Shop" for anyones project.
