Hi there! Im Freddie, I've been doing Handyman work and Moving jobs for over 5 years now and been running my own buisness for the past year. Im excited and ready for this new chapter in my life. The experience and leadership skills I've developed has left me with a great reputation to better serve you. Our current rate is $115 an hour, for a two man crew. Most moving jobs have a 2 hour minimum. If a truck is needed we can save you the hassel and rent it ourselves and charge the cost of the rental at the end of the job. We provide moving blankets, shrink wrap, tape, etc.) Mattress covers are provided for an additional cost for your convience. Your local help, Affordable Services.

I communicated with several movers for my big move not only out of my 1 bedroom apartment but also out of my 10' x 20' storage unit on the same day into my new duplex apartment and new storage unit close by. I ended up going with Fred with Affordable Services. He gave me the best price and communicated with me well throughout the process with all my many questions. On the day of the move, Fred and his co-worker, David, got there a bit later than expected, as they had hit traffic on their way in from Salem. Once they arrived, however, they quickly set about getting things moved out. An elevator was already out in my building, meaning I couldn't reserve the other one, so I think that slowed things down a little, but then just before we were about to move the last 2 dressers and 2 adjustable bed bases, the 2nd elevator went out, too! Despite that, Fred and David made the effort to carry my heavy bed bases down the stairs, which ensured I had a bed to sleep on that night. We left the 2 dressers behind, as it was unclear how long it would take to get the elevators fixed, and we still had to unload the truck full of stuff into my new place before heading to the 10' x 20' storage unit, which had to be totally cleared out by 6pm that day or I would get charged another $350 - even if I were there only one more day. Fred and David quickly unloaded the truck of stuff into my new residence, then grabbed a quick bite before heading to my storage unit. Fred's eyes got big when I opened up the unit, and he saw what remained to move, which included multiple pieces of heavy antique furniture. It wasn't all going to fit in the 15' truck, so we decided what was going to go to my apartment and took that stuff first. By the time we were heading back to the storage, it was getting to be rush hour traffic, and I started to get nervous as it was going to take twice as long to get to the storage in traffic, and I was calculating what still had to be done and how much time I would have before I got charged another full month's rent. I called a friend to meet us at the storage unit- knowing by the time I got there, there would only be 20 minutes to pull out all the remaining furniture, etc before I would be getting charged. By the grace of God, my friend, and Fred and David, we got everything out just in the nick of time. Whew! We still had to go unload the last amount of stuff into my new storage unit. At this point, the day had gone way longer than I had expected it would, but Fred and David, despite having lifted so much heavy furniture and boxes over the course of what would be an 11 hour day (before breaks, etc), maintained positive attitudes, a can-do spirit and a willingness to make sure they got things put away how I wanted. At the end of that last round, we were all so tired and hadn't even been able to go back for the last 2 dressers from my old apartment, but Fred and David had worked so long and hard, I told them not to worry about it. I would figure it out. Even as tired as he must have been, Fred told me that he would help me get the last 2 dressers out when he was in Portland again within the next few days. True to his word, he did just that and was only going to charge me for the van rental, though I had to throw more in for his and his coworker's time. I was so appreciative, again, for their help as the pieces were very heavy and I wasn't sure, even with a friend, if we could have gotten it taken care of. Even though overall, it was an expensive move for me, for what Fred and his guys did for me and for how long and hard they worked, they gave me a great value, and I honestly could not have done it without them. I would definitely call Affordable Services again for a move or for any of their other household services they provide and would gladly recommend them to friends. Great guys. Great attitudes. Great value. You really couldn't ask for more!

David and Freddie were great. They hopped in to do a same day move as when I asked them to do the job. They were energetic and took initiative with helping to move big items, figure out where they should go, and make sure it was done safely for the furniture, doorways and walls. I would hire these guys again for a move.

Great communicator! Showed up ready to work. Quickly loaded up the moving truck, taking great care to ensure nothing got damaged. Were equally fast unloading, placing items in correct rooms for easy unpacking! Highly recommend!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The rate that we charge takes into account the leads fee that we get charged by Thumbtack when you make that initial contact. Doesn't matter if we get the job or not, we still get charged. So keep that in mind before you send out 4 or 5 messages to different companies cause all of them will get charged. So when choosing someone be confident with your choice..
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically first want to make sure we're completely transparent with our prices and that there will be no other additional fees, unless agreed upon with the customer.
