Jeffrey was a fantastic videographer and photographer to work with! We really enjoyed shooting our video with him, and people comment regularly about how good the end result is, we couldn't be happier. Jeff, hope all is well, and thanks again!

Karl was a professional from quote to finish. He listened to me and truly understood what I wanted. He told me he would stay at my wedding until he had everything he needed. Which meant be stayed the whole day (mostly cause my reception was fun, lol). He worked well with my other vendors, especially my photographer. He made me feel at ease and I forgot he was there half the time. I studied film in college so I have a critical eye. I was so pleased with his portfolio and that he worked within my budget. Added bonus is he's a nice guy and I had fun working with him! My husband was reluctant to hire a videographer because he felt it might be invasive. He has nothing but great things to say about Karl and his professionalism. We look forward to seeing the finished product!

Arka is a Hard Core Professional, his efforts and output went beyond our expectations. Two opportunities to work with Arka and both turned out to be fruitful, these were memories of life Maternity shoot and Baby first photoshoot. Arka’s justification to his work is commendable, he spent extra hours for us to capture & deliver the most memorable moment of our life.

We just received the video for our daughter's recent wedding and we were thrilled! My daughter didn't want a video originally because so many videographers can be intrusive at the event and force their way upon people to get good video. I asked Joe to please video the event without having much interaction with the guests, and he was perfect...got all the great shots and footage without us even noticing he was there :) We highly recommend him and he will do as much or as little as you want, he did exactly what we wanted and it's perfect!

If only I had words that could express the job that Jeff did capturing our Wedding Day on video as well as he did, then this Review would have you experiencing a depth of emotion, and possibly tearing up by the end. Unfortunately, I'm not that talented a writer. Jeff and his assistant were discrete and unobtrusive throughout the day while still managing to record everything that occurred. Not only were the video and editing of superb quality, but all of our interactions have been professional, prompt, and responsive to our needs. After our Wedding, Jeff was hit by a car, and yet still managed to get us a finished product in timely fashion. He was even willing and able to reformat all of the video files for us after the original formatting wasn't compatible with our operating system. Truly, if you are looking for a Videographer who will go above and beyond in order to meet, or more likely surpass, your expectations, then this is your man.

Jordan is such a talented videographer! His work constantly takes my breath away because he truly has a talent for capturing the moment, couple, or event in the most genuine way. His work is so diverse and he works hard to bring the best out of everyone he films. You will not find a more down to earth videographer! I highly recommend Jordan Kepner and will be using him for future filming needs.

Having a magazine that has been in publication for over seven years I have worked with a multitude of photographers and videographers. I can say that Jordan has been by far the most professional, creative and dedicated of any. In my multiple years of working with Jordan he has consistently taken our work to a new level each time. I'd recommend him without reservation to anyone looking for a photographer or videographer.

Matt is a very attentive, intuitive videographer. He was the videographer at my wedding and I couldn’t have been happier with our wedding video. He is a one man show who just somehow managed to be everywhere, all day, capturing all of the priceless moments, including a heart-to-heart I spontaneously had with my wheelchair bound grandfather. Moreover, not only was he the first person to offer to get my husband and I a drink after the ceremony, he also gave me his handkerchief to clean the goose poop off of my white, beaded heels when we were done with our formal outdoor pictures. He is such a considerate, kind man and that truly comes through in his work.

JT was amazing. My husband is also a Videographer and was very picky throughout the decision process to find our Wedding Videographer. We both loved JT's work and couldn't be happier with the final product. He captured every major moment, and was professional and courteous the whole day. I highly recommend him for your wedding!

Annie and her team did a fantastic job capturing the memories from our son's wedding. It actually all started before the wedding with rehearsal, then early the next morning when we were decorating the reception hall; here they came! And, of course, all the preparations the day of! My daughter-in-law had planned to play a trick on her bridesmaids involving her dress...John got it all on film and Annie surprised us with "Dress Reveal" (check it out on YouTube...Dress Reveal Ann Shaw.) When our preview was finished she arranged a Champagne (sparkling grape juice) viewing; so special! We just couldn't be more pleased with our video; she surprised us again with a little bit of comedy that stemmed from the rehearsal dinner and it really put the finishing touch on the detail that goes into her product; I would have never suspected nor thought of that myself! She went above and beyond adding many special touches that to us, are precious. Annie was very professional and absolutely lovely to work with; she and her team are, simply put, super nice folks!

Beverly Boy Productions was great from the moment I contacted them. Tavares was extremely helpful setting it up, especially in such a short amount of time. Our videographer, Brad, was professional, precise and did a wonderful job onsite and afterwards during editing. He made sure we were happy with our final project. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone who is looking for a friendly, successful experience.

Let me fill you in on a one of the best kept secrets in videography- that is Ryan Sanderson. My wedding video was produced beautifully, and was so much fun to film! We watch it time and time again, it never gets old... Months before my wedding I was on the fence about having a videographer to begin with... Family members wanted it more than I did. I had seen other productions of other couples weddings, and thought that they were "OK" but they just didn't excite me. My thought process was that if I were to have a videographer, they were to be the best; I didn't want to settle on anything less. As time got closer I had probably seen every wedding video made from every wedding in central PA, western PA, and even parts of Ohio... They were "meh" to say the least. Somehow I was fortunate enough to come across one of Ryan's productions, I was blown away! After watching one video, I had to watch another- to make sure it wasn't a fluke of having one great video among some okay ones... HE WAS NO FLUKE, HE IS THE REAL DEAL. Don't believe me, take a look for yourself. Ryan captures the best parts of your day, captures the raw emotions, and turn it all into something magical. My video has only been released for a week now and family members, friends, co-workers, friends of friends, strangers, all who have see our wedding video is astonished how amazing it was put together. How well the editing done, how well the story is put together, how well the music is matched, everything! I can't recommend Ryan enough! Although his presence with online public recommendation is hard to find, he is the real deal and needs the recognition he deserves! Ryan Sanderson, the best kept secret in videography. His work comes toe to toe with the "big dogs", and in my opinion is better... The best!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
