Introduction: My first questions are always, "What is your goal while you are taking lessons?" and "What do you want to achieve?" Everyone's answer is a little different. Most younger students want to get a head start before they play in the orchestra at school. My older students want to be able to play in ensembles at church or just to jam with some friends. I take their answers and try to apply them to their lessons.
Lessons are once a week and range from 30 minutes to an hour. I work with beginner students of all ages, working on basics of violin bowing, music theory, and technique. All beginners must advance to a certain level before they are ready to jump into difficult music. Everyone must learn to read music, play beautifully, and understand musical concepts, and I will get you there!
I have been playing violin for 18 years and teaching for 6 years. I studied at Slippery Rock University and have a degree in violin performance studies under the direction of Dr. Warren Davidson. I have been playing with the Butler Symphony for 6 years. I have played in numerous country, bluegrass, and blues bands over the years. I love teaching all different styles of music.
