Dave and his crew removed laminate and wood floors in my hallway and bath. They installed ceramic tiles. The tile work is outstanding! While working, they found a structural issue with my house and addressed it immediately. They were very professional. I highly recommend Dave and his crew!

Just re-read these reviews and am amazed that these guys can do it all and are honest, reliable, and great to have around the house! I hired for drywall and wall restoration for water damage from a burst pipe. What started as hanging panelling, drywall, trims and painting ended up with a putting a huge dent in my maintenance to-do list - replacing sheet rock, tile and grouting in huge hole in main bathroom without the entire gut and redo recomnended by others, repairing drywall damage on part of 3 walls and repainting the entire walls, rewiring and hanging new motion detector and exterior lights, checking wiring and replacing a new ceiling fan/light in our great room, repairing an exterior door knob - that required new screws (thru a heavy metal door!) replacing a ballast on a flourescent light, and checking/fixing an electrical outlet in our laundry room. They moved and replaced furniture and always had time to answer questions, and cleaned up all messes. I was surprised (and overjoyed) when I heard Jason, one of the brother's, specialized in outside jobs and am getting an outside list queued up for later this spring. Highly, highly recommend, and THANKS, guys!!

Troy was prompt and completed the job in one day! The best part of the experience was the final outcome. My wife is absolutely ecstatic over how well the tile backsplash turned out. Troy's work is stunning.

If you are looking for a timely and very thorough inspection, down to every outlet and number of tiles required to be replaced on the roof, and a quick turn-around, then Rick Stough fits this criteria!! :) I appreciated the e-mailed report and pictures, however I personally would have prefered a binder, complete with the report and pictures integrated into each area of discussion.

Working with Jeff is always great! In 2013 he did a full bathroom renovation for us with perfect tile work and in 2015 he added a huge composite deck to our home. We are so happy with every project he's ever done for us and we constantly get compliments on his work. He is meticulous and works on a job consistently from start to finish. He doesn't bounce around from job to job so you never have to wonder if he is going to show up. We feel lucky to have found him and have a several other projects in mind that we plan to hire him for. 110% recommend!

Greg at Revitalize Remodeling is great in every way. From first estimate meeting to final pictures and smiles for amazing jobs well done. He's tiled my kitchen, upgraded my guest bath and most recently gutted my master bathroom and put in a shower that should be on display instead of hidden in bathroom. He also added a room to my basement. His work is impeccable (and I'm picky), he's honest, professional and clean. Shows up on time and has realistic prices. There's not a crooked line on any tile floor, not a wall out of square or a paint smear left behind. He was just in my home for nearly three weeks and there wasn't a day I came home from work to be disappointed by the progress of the job or a mess left behind. Thank you, Greg Robb Hanrahan

Jackson flooring went above and beyond my expectations. I would hire them to complete flooring work on my home again in a second. Justin and Jim have an incredible amount of attention to detail, they are 100% accurate with estimates and very accommodative. Jackson flooring laid about 300 sq ft of ceramic tile in my kitchen...not only did they complete the job above my expectations they also fixed some molding and door thresholds. I would highly recommend Jackson flooring to anyone.

We hired AmeriPro to renovate our bathroom. The owner Aleks helped us with design Ideas. Company helped us pick out tub, fixtures, tile and other bathroom accessories. Installation was done carefully and with great attention to detail. Quality of work were excellent: very well-trained, polite, and with a good work ethic. Another best part was each evening they cleaned up and left the house in a livable condition. Thanks Aleks and the crew. We are extremely pleased with our remodel.

Nate from Southern End Home Improvements was great to work with. He built a new tiled shower that turned out nicer than I anticipated. He gave me good suggestions and I am so glad I listened to him. He always kept me updated on the quote and I have no problem recommending him based on the beautiful job he did for me.

I was extremely pleased with the quality, service and attention to detail they deliver. I was so pleased after my kitchen floor tile was installed I immediately scheduled my tile backsplash installation. They were very prompt in responding to my request for a quote, offered pictures, and gave sound advice to assist us with determining which tile and grout would work best for our needs. They offer fair prices for top notch work. They were very respectful of my time and were on the job at the exact hour they stated. They completed the work on the time line given without any delays or extensions. I will continue to recommend C.E. Witmer to all my family and friends. As we work on the other upgrades to our home we will be using C.E. Witmer for all our tile and marble remodeling.

Quality Floors did our kitchen backsplash, and they were excellent to deal with. They were responsive when we called, and went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied with the job. I work for a company that values customer satisfaction above all else, and so I know what it takes to follow that mission on a daily basis, with every customer. Quality Floors is a company you can trust to stick with the job until you are satisfied.

Rich was professional to deal with. He was on time, and he completed the project in a timely manner. The work is excellent, and we are very happy with the results. We had a slight problem with our electrical due to the tile installation, but we called Rich and he came back at 8 a.m. the next morning to fix it for us. We received our receipt as promised. We would use RHM Construction again!

Keystone flooring installed a floating laminate wood floor in my living and hall areas. They also installed ceramic tile in my bathroom. In my shower they installed ceramic with numerous inlays. The product selection process and the installation were both done very professionally.

Kevin did an amazing job with my home. I originally hired him to tile my shower. He did such great work, I asked him to do my backsplash in my kitchen too. He did everything in a timely manner while maintaining outstanding work. If we came to any bumps in the road, he came to me and we worked it out. He was great to work with. When I'm ready for my floors to be done, he will be the first one I call!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

    • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
      • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
    • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to get tiling done?

You can install tiling on your floors, walls, counters, kitchen backsplash, outdoor patio and shower — to name a few places. Tile is beautiful, easy to clean, durable, and resilient against kids and pets. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Often, tile installation specialists quote a price per square foot for installation. Costs can increase if you want the pro to supply the tile instead of ordering it yourself. Other factors that can increase cost include specialized installation with a unique design that will require more labor to install.

Prep work will also affect tile installation costs. Demolition of the existing floor, counter or backsplash takes time and energy that will be reflected in the price. Necessary repairs, such as a sub-floor that needs bolstering before tile flooring can be installed, will also increase costs. For tile showers, one example of tile installation cost may be approximately $25 per square foot including all materials and labor. Average tile installation costs for backsplashes may run anywhere from $10 to $40, depending on the materials selected and the amount of labor required. The larger the area where tile is being installed, the lower the price per square foot will likely be. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for wood-look tile installation in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
