Linda is extremely professional and patient in teaching sewing skills to my 7 year old daughter and I. We are learning so much in a short time and could not be happier. We leave each lesson with a completed project and additional skills to practice at home. This is a wonderful bonding experience and with such a talented and kind teacher.

Denise was very professional and helped get started with my sewing machine. She had helped me pick the machine and when she came over the class, she walked me through the functionality of the basic parts of the machine. She also started me off on my first project. She taught me some basic sewing terminology and guided me through the sewing instruction sheet, helping do the cutting, and sewing. I plan to call her again to do another class.

Thank you,Thumbtack for sharing my request for sewing lessons. I hired Ruby Gertz at SewinglessonsNYC. I have taken 3 lessons so far, and am so pleased with the results. Ruby is a creative, skilled, and friendly teacher. I am learning "sew" much from her, and enjoying every minute.

Elisha is my sewing teacher and she excellent. I found her here, on Thumbtack and have been going to her for a month so far. Elisha is way more than just a seamstress or a sewing teacher, she has a degree in design along with several years of experience. She actually creates the patterns that we make together and walks me through each step of the process. So, if I want a jersey dress with elbow length sleeves and a V neck? She can make the pattern to my measurements, walk me through the steps of HOW she made it...and, since she has 8 years of experience as a stylist, she can help me accessorize the finished product. When I first started going to Elisha, I didn’t know how to sew at all. I didn’t even own a sewing machine. Now, I have a sewing machine, I know how to use it, and with Elisha’s help and incredible pattern making skills, I know soon, I’ll be able to create anything! Elisha is very professional and an absolute pleasure to work with. She has an infectiously sparkling personality , so just being around gives me an instant mood lift!

Brenda was flexible with my appointment request and was professional, yet friendly. We designed a custom class on hems for me and I really appreciated Brenda's focus on my specific projects. She was able to incorporate my level of experience so I have plans to set up more class time with Brenda.

I had my second session with Mercia. She's a professional, knows what's she talking about in both aspects of sewing and designing. She has notes, worksheets with instructions, and many samples ready in order to show what we are learning. She asks me lots of questions to make sure that I am obtaining what we are going over. She's a great!! teacher, she wants me to learn, so she demonstrates and gives me plenty of opportunity to it myself until I get it right. She is very encouraging, which I like very much. I am eager to learn more!!

For questions you feel are stupid to ask, I'm the one who you can ask, because I've been there. Once you figure out the basics and truly understand why, a whole new world opens up for you.
