As a life coach, Curtis has the ability and desire to highlight and skillfully build on a person's strengths. At the wonderful age of 50, I am excited to walk-this-walk of "self discovery" and move fully in my gifts and strengths. It is refreshing to actually experience a person leading me that celebrates along side of me, my uniqueness and point me in the area of business and relationships that best fit me. A wonderful journey indeed!

Dan started coaching me a year and a half ago at which time I was just trying to gain endurance and projection. I am extremely pleased with the work he has done so far on my voice. In addition to bringing me towards success in all my original goals, he has given me a new level of confidence and a new desire to go much further with my voice than I ever intended. The nicest thing about Dan is he works with me as an individual and helps me reach MY goals as opposed to pushing me to be someone else. I recommend him to all my friends.

Liz is a wonderful life coach. I first met her 7 years ago when we worked together, she was actually my boss. Even after both went our own separate ways, I knew I could always count on her for great advice. Not only did Liz coach and mentor me, but she also helped me get a job, she helped with my resume and coached me on how to have a great interview. I got the job of course! Almost a year later she encouraged me to look outside of what I was used to, she told me I should look for better opportunities. She helped me get a promotion. I am now in a much better place mentally and financially. Not only is she a great mentor, but she is also a terrific fitness coach. Liz has helped me to lose 18 lbs on her Beachbody 21 day fix. I encourag buoy to work with Liz too. She does not disappoint!

Massively infuriating, incredibly loving, and an insightful mad man, Allen is someone who has dramatically uplifted and altered my world for the better through his coaching. He has an immense approval for darkness and weirdness which frees me and expands my power each time I talk to him. If you're ready for a coach who will stir up your soul and sneakily provoke you to realize your deepest desires whilst tricking you into thinking it was your own idea to get free all along, you should get in touch with Allen.

Meeting Lisa changed my life, I completed sixteen hours of angry management with her. She was always on time and very professional. She was always available to talk, and she also encouraged me too call when ever I needed to talk. Lisa really helped me organize my thoughts. Lisa helped me recognize a lot of things in my life, that I never gave any attention, these things were holding me back from living a more peaceful life. Thanks you Lisa I am forever grateful.

I met Mary Lee Gannon through a women's professional network. At the time I was facing many challenges in my career. After speaking to Mary Lee, I retained her as a career/personal coach and I haven't looked backed. I could not have made it through the many hurdles and challenges that I was faced with in Corporate America if it were not for Mary Lee. She has guided me through not only my corporate career but helped prepare me to start my own business. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have had Mary Lee as both my career coach and personal coach.

After months of debating with myself about seeking spiritual life coaching I contacted Ms. Joyner and had my initial meeting.I was imeditately drawn to her soft spoken voice and reassuring comments. zIt was outstanding and very informative. Ms. Joyner opened my mind to some very basic beliefs I learned over time to revisit and evaluate where I am today compared to the earlier years of my deepest spiritual faith and beliefs. My meeting marks a restart of my journey back to a balanced life and strong faith in my higher power.

Happiness is your birthright. You are meant to live an amazing life, and I will help you figure out the "hows".

I “meet” with my clients 3 times a month on the telephone. (So convenient!) We have sessions that last from 30 to 45 minutes. * During our sessions, we discuss what the client wants in his/her life and ways to go about achieving those results. We come up with action steps and the plan to take these steps. I help my clients determine which strategies will work for them. * I help my clients get out of their own way, and get results quickly. * I help my clients process and organize the information they need to make their plans. * My clients want accountability, and we do this in a variety of ways. Some clients send me weekly e-mails and appreciate words of encouragement throughout the month. Other clients want to keep written logs for me to review before each session. We use the tools that suit each client best. * I bring my knowledge, experience, education, and listening skills to each session. We continually evaluate what works and what doesn’t and review our efforts.

I appeal to the uniqueness of each situation. I use best practices with no cookie-cutter approaches.

I provide life coaching services specializing in relationships, teens, adults, dating, and family. I am committed to help you change that current situation that is not working for you. I will help you get to where you feel you need to be and make your days better.

The future of health care is moving toward prevention. As a health coach, I call companies' clients and provide coaching to help guide them to leading healthier lives. This is done by asking the client open-ended questions and by using motivational interviewing to determine what their health needs are. They are assisted by me to develop practical health goals. Follow-up calls are sometimes scheduled by the client, and I track the progress of the goals. Health coaching provides help for clients with chronic diseases, such as COPD, DM, CAD, etc. and other areas that can affect health, like smoking and stress. By helping clients set and reach their health goals, it is hoped that the client may avoid adverse health conditions or prevent the exacerbation of current ones. This helps to keep the client out of the hospital, which saves health insurance companies money and maintains good health for the client, creating a win-win situation.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

      • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
      • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
      • Defining your career goals
      • Creating a plan for job searching
      • Improving networking strategies and skills
      • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
      • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
      • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

      Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

      • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
      • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
      • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
      • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
      • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
      • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
      • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

      What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
