Lisa M. says, "We hired Alex today to put our deck back together (joists and deck boards) after the plumber had to take it all apart to get to the sewer pipe going into the house. Alex gave us a very reasonably priced quote the day we reached out to him. He got the job done quickly the very next morning and it looks very professional and done well. We could not be happier with his work on our rental property in East Falls. We hope we can contact him the next time we need something done. He was very responsive and easy to work with. Highly highly recommend."See more

Lou was punctual, pleasant and exceedingly professional. He meticulously filled cracks in a second story wall and caulked two windows that were very difficult to access. I would definitely recommend his work and will hire him again for any additional repairs.

Nick Vanore was able to come the next day, even earlier than scheduled. He got right to work and completed it quickly, there was absolutely no "padding" of his time. So far no leaks in the area he caulked for me, and it looks 100% better than it used to.
Nick is very pleasant but also no nonsense when it comes to completing the work. Excellent value for the money

We did significant repairs in our condo (repaint the entire condo, replace appliances, minor repairs throughout, caulking in bathroom) and the job took multiple days. Terry did excellent work, was punctual, started and finished on the schedule he estimated, and charged us a fair price. We will definitely be working with Terry again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an expert handyman in Philadelphia.

Handyman technician completed the task. Painted and caulked 2 story home exterior window sills and repaired front door threshold.
The technician did not arrive on time for twovdesignated days. Technician also does not speak English well but has a partner that handles all communication exchanges.
Technician did not assess job or required material beforehand, causing a delay on beginning the task.
Sill paint job was satisfactory and nicely done. Threshold repair was excellent.

There were clear issues with professionalism through the engagement. I would not recommend using this contractor.

He first arrived a half hour late. He then advertised a price much higher than the hourly fee on Thumbtack, indicating I should also compensate him for his commute.

He complained when I showed him where to apply the caulk. He then quoted me 5 to 7 hours as an estimate (It only took him an hour and a half).

When the job was completed and I went to pay him via Zelle, he proceeded to hover and hassle me about giving him “extra”.

Alex made an amazing first impression and completely exceeded expectations. I had tenants moving in within 4 hours and had a garbage disposal break and leak on me. He was so prompt and got the job done quickly. I ended up adding extra tasks because I was so impressed with his work. He ended up replacing my garbage disposal, caulking two bathrooms, and even spackled and repainted a ceiling. Everything was done thoroughly and with great attention to detail. Nothing felt rushed, and he clearly takes pride in doing the job right. His pricing was reasonable and fair. He’ll definitely be my go-to for any odd jobs from now on.

Hired this guy to paint , put a few hooks up , and a solar light , provided paint drop cloth , caulk and tape. Had to request a better coat , and to cover a patio set that cost me $1000 dollars. Not only was there paint all over my furniture but both porches , my hose and areas that weren’t even painted had paint drips everywhere! It took several chemicals a wire brush and my pressure washer to remove it. Also one of the hooks were upside down and it took way longer than it should of I know because I paint myself.. if I had know I would have just had my 9&10 year old help me. and pocketed the money to do another project when I brought it to his attention he offered a discount for the next job? Hello there will be no next job!Although I have found a few great contractors on this site be weary of the ones who have minimal reviews!!!!!!

Work Done: Removed old concrete to center and install a new window, rebuilt the frame with reinforced concrete, refinished the window well, and sealed around the new window

I really wanted to leave a better review for this contractor. He came across as professional at the start, and I trusted his judgment. I even told him to do the kind of work he’d want done on his own home — but unfortunately, the end result didn’t match that standard.

He did remove the rotted wood and reinforced the frame with new concrete, which I appreciated. But the finish work around the window well just wasn’t clean. Instead of using aluminum coil, he used whiteboard, which doesn’t look durable — especially with it being above a French drain where moisture could be an issue. The cement work left two uneven visible layers, and there are exposed edges and corners around the window still open to rain and weather.

Clean-up was another letdown. No contractor bags were used, and leftover concrete was left behind on the basement floor and sidewalk, which I had to clean up myself. Minimal plastic was used during the job. That old saying comes to mind: “Leave the home better than you found it.” Unfortunately, that didn’t happen here.

I even offered to pay extra to fix the final details — aluminum coil, proper caulking, and skim coating — but I never got a response.

Bottom line: the structural work got done, but the details and follow-through fell short. If you go with him, stay involved and make sure your expectations for the finish are clearly laid out.

Quality Made Renovations
Quality Made Renovations
We hired this contractor to install stone tile on our bathroom walls. He was pleasant overall, and willing to meet us at the store to pick up materials. Unfortunately, that is the only good thing we have to say about him. There were many issues with this contractor, but I will highlight the ones that were most aggravating.

He was a poor communicator, at times failing to show up during our scheduled appointments and not notifying us until we reached out to him. The tiles were installed with concrete visibly oozing out between the stones and, unfortunately, left to dry on the stones. He left concrete on our walls, requiring us to repaint the bathroom! He initially agreed to a price for this project and, the day before he completed it, said that it would be more because he had to tile behind our radiator. (He knew we had a radiator, and he did not have to remove it.) He broke two of our floor tiles and actually suggested that it would be extra money if we wanted him to find and reinstall new ones.

When he completed the installation, he left gaps in between the floor and wall. When we pointed this out to him, he said that it was because our floor was uneven. After pressing him to find out how we can remedy the gaps, he told us he would be willing to caulk the areas "if we wanted him to." We were shocked and disappointed that he did not consider this to be a standard part of the job. We also had to ask him to reinstall our bathroom hardware (ie., towel racks). Lastly, it was our assumption that if you install a half-wall of tile, you would also install trim between the tiled and un-tiled portion of the wall. He considered that to be extra.

While we are glad to have our tile installed, we will have to clean up his mess, install our own trim and actually repaint the walls!! Think twice before hiring this contractor.

WOW! Julio was a rock star! Let me list what was so impressive/awesome/unique about him:
1. He responded to my inquiry immediately.
2. I texted a (long!) list of what needed to be repaired/installed, and he let me know that he could take care of everything on the list (i.e., electrical work, plumbing work, caulking, gutter work, door seals, and miscellaneous issues that needed fixing/replacement).
4. He also let me know immediately after receiving the list what the cost would most likely be. The rates were fair and reasonable - and it was clear from the start that he would not take advantage of us or overcharge us. I was extremely impressed with his trustworthiness and how important it was to satisfy the customer (me)!
5. I contacted him late Tuesday night and asked if he could come Thursday (the best day for us) and he said yes. So accommodating! He and his associate showed up at 10am on Thursday and immediately started working.
6. He was also proactive in repairing something that would have caused problems down the road if he hasn't fixed it - so grateful for that.
7. By 2:00pm he was gone - and all of the work was completed. (He was able to get all supplies and fix everything -- none of this "I'll have to go and get some supplies and come back tomorrow or next week" stuff that sometimes is the case with repair people. He was prepared and took care of everything.)
8. The work was done well and with quality care.
9. He texted photos (25!) of all of the work he did so I will have a photo record of what was done.
10. Upon completion, he let me know that I should let him know if there was any problem at all and he would return and solve it. (But of course there weren't any problems.)
11. His communication skills during this whole process (from first inquiry to job completion to payment) were TOP NOTCH. Such a pleasure to communicate with. Caring, friendly, professional.
12. I give AJ Repairs my highest recommendation and you can be sure they will be my go-to people for repairs (and painting -- which will probably be needed in the future).
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, JULIO! (Sorry this is so long, but I wanted people to know about you.)
