Carol was great - extremely personable and a blast to work with. She did an awesome job helping write the vows and she really tried to capture the spirit of our relationship after only a few quick and fun conversations. She was also great directing us during the ceremony when we got nervous, and pulled everything together with no practice run (people couldn't believe we didn't rehearse and all thought it went flawlessly). We would recommend Carol to anyone looking for someone to officiate who will fit right in while doing a professional job.

My 8 year old is learning golf with Mike. Mike knows how to teach children for sure. Very professional and things are going well. Others at the golf course also speak highly of his teaching skills.

Matt was super nice and awesome. My daughter had her first ever golf lesson and she learned so much. I was a bit nervous because she doesn't have any experience besides mini golfing twice, but Matt taught her safety (which is a plus as a parent) and by the end of the lesson she knew how to hold the golf club and even hit the balls. Can't wait for future lessons with him!

I have been working with Joe for approximately six months now and very happy with my workouts at fit metrics. Joe works around my crazy schedule and always has new exercises to challenge me. He also gives me the encouragement to eat healthy which is my problem area. I get a good workout and always feel better when I am done.

Catie is one of the most wonderful person I have ever worked with. She is very enthusiastic, always on time and clearly communicates her plan and her expectations. Catie does an exceptional job understanding the needs and customizing her routines based on the requirements. Highly focused on overall health and very perceptive - more of a personal coach than a fitness trainer. I can highly recommend working with her.

I highly recommend Ryan if you want to learn how to play golf or improve your game. Ryan is a fantastic instructor,he has the gift of teaching. He is versatile and uses different techniques and drills to help you achieve an optimum result. With every lesson I see tangible results. He is able to simplify things, which makes the golf swing/game less frustrating. Ryan's teaching, understanding and correction of your swing is top rate.

Overanalysis causes paralysis in golf. Keep golf simple, and you will quickly find your game. I published two distinct golf instructional books on Amazon, Golf Demystified, and Golf 4 Kids. You can offer someone a lesson, and they will come back for more, or you can teach them to be self-sufficient for a lifetime.

    About

Our mission is to not only make you a better golfer but to help you understand and enjoy the game of golf to its fullest. This program is based upon two key concepts: the club needs to do certain things to create a good golf shot and each golfer needs to learn a swing that he or she can repeat. We don't ask our students to make swings like the pros; we help them learn their best swing based on physical abilities, body types and personal goals. Our instructors have studied the golf swing motion in detail and have been trained to communicate it clearly in a style that can be understood by all golfers. You will learn faster than you ever thought possible. Our goal is to help you to have more fun playing golf. Each golfer has a different perception of fun when it comes to golf. For some, this might mean lower scores. For others, it might mean playing golf without embarrassment and enjoying the day on the golf course by hitting the ball better.

Take a lesson at The Academy at Play-A-Round Golf. We offer clinics and private lessons, using 7 PGA tour simulators and high-speed video cameras. Our head golf instructor, Jeff Lockman, has 21 years of experience in teaching the game at a high level. Jeff is the primary swing coach for a current 2011 PGA Tour player, and has been playing since age 3. We find that our students improve faster indoors than outdoors. Our goal at the academy is to lower your score significantly.

I teach golf in a fun and interesting manner. Golf is an incredibly tough psychological game; however, it can be conquered and made fun. I approach the game just as that -- a game. It is not life or death, and when most people relax, they will learn to thrive. If you are interested in learning from a very low handicapped player how to swing the club properly and work your way around the course, try me out.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What makes a good golf instructor?

A good golf instructor is someone who has the playing skill you’d like to achieve, is qualified to teach golf, and is someone you can get along with. Some experts recommend you only take golf lessons from coaches with active accreditation from reputable associations such as the PGA, LPGA, or similar organizations that focus on continuing education. You’ll be spending hours out on the green with the pro during lessons, so a good rapport, strong communication and the right personality fit are key. A proven track record is also important. Read reviews from their current and former students to make sure they have helped people achieve their golfing goals, and always ask about the instructor’s experience before signing on for lessons. Years of providing lessons can contribute to a deeper understanding of how to teach the sport. Just because your friend or partner is great at golf doesn’t mean they’ll give good golf lessons. Invest in a professional golf instructor who knows how to teach the sport from short game to full swing.

    How much are golf lessons?

Golf lessons are a great way to break into the sport or take your golf game to a new level. The national average cost for golf lessons is $50-$60, but prices will vary based on what type of lessons you want. The most expensive golf lessons will be private instruction with top-tier coaches. These are golf instructors who have held high professional ranking and have a good reputation. Regardless of who is teaching, private instruction is always more costly than couples’ lessons or small group lessons (usually up to four people). Teachers often offer a lower price per lesson when you buy a package of several lessons at one time. Here are some examples of average golf lesson costs:

    • Individual lessons:
      • Standard pricing for 60-minute private lesson: $60.
      • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $100.
    • Couples’ lessons:
      • Standard pricing for 90-minute duo lesson: $100.
      • 60-minute lesson with renowned golf coach: $125.
    • Golf lesson package pricing:
      • Purchase six individual lessons at one time and save $10.
      • Purchase 10 individual lessons at one time and save $40.
      • Purchase six couples’ lessons at one time and save $40.
      • Purchase 10 couples’ lessons at one time and save $200.

What age should you start golf lessons?

Golf lessons for kids can start as early as age four or five. They’re too young for formal training, but you can keep them interested and engaged and give them a feel for the game. U.S. Kids Golf recommends starting formal training for junior golfers at six years old. It’s important for young golfers to swing clubs that are the right length and weight for their body; U.S. Kids Golf provides a fitting guide.

Golf lessons for kids, especially young kids, should be about encouraging success rather than correcting mistakes, according to U.S. Kids Golf. If you want your child to love golf for life, you want their early experiences to be positive. Golf lessons for kids are less expensive than golf lessons for adults. A monthly rate (including four lessons) for group golf lessons for kids may average $100. Semi-private golf lessons for kids may range from $150 to $200 per month. Location and instructor reputation can also affect cost. Often, discounts are provided when multiple months are purchased at one time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
