Review of Ben
I've known Ben for three years now. I met him while he was DJing an event in a space which I was managing. He stood out in the crowd - his beats were groovy and it was immediately apparent to me that he was serious about his art. As we became friends and worked together a bit over the years, I've witnessed Ben growing in leaps and bounds. He has been a driving force in encouraging collaborations between dynamic local and international artists, has been instrumental in forming the "Worldtown culture", has created stunning musical festivals and events in Philly parks and piazzas, and has brought beautiful visual and physical art into the mix via his musical partner Oluwafemi. Through all of this, Ben and Femi, along with their core Worldtown crew, have contributed in a massive way to the development of a thinking feeling connected collaborative musical scene throughout my Philadelphia. I love that he has fallen in love with Philly in a similar way as I have - Philadelphia: lovely despite and because of her rough edges, always a breeding ground for true talent, a place in which, for years now, I've believed that honest culture can grow and flourish.
