MJ is a knowledgeable personal trainer and is an excellent athlete herself. She has walked the walk and has been there, so she is able to reliably guide the trainee. She has lived and worked at a high level with hundreds of athletes and understands them. She is very attentive and is closely attuned to the nuances and changes of each trainee that may be needed before and during a personal training session. She listens closely and seeks out such things as any aches or "how are you feeling today?" She is upbeat and offers positive reinforcement. She is highly responsive and asks what goals you would like to emphasize in a given training session. She varies the sessions so no two are alike. This keeps it fresh and interesting. The sessions build on one another. I am amazed how well the personal training sessions can be done using Zoom on an iPad. The personal training sessions can be done remotely and in the comfort of home on a schedule I choose. It is a real convenience and time saver. In the setting of COVID it is also safe to be able to do this at home. During several months of personal training with MJ I have lost a good deal of weight and have increased my activities. I restored my bicycle after 10 years and am riding it in the neighborhood and on a local Rail Trail. I highly recommend MJ as a personal trainer.

I have been training with MJ for several months now and highly recommend her. I am in my 60’s and felt like I was not meeting my fitness goals. I was no longer comfortable going to the gym due to COVID even after it reopened. I was skeptical of remote personal training; yet it has worked out great! I have some specific medical and orthopedic issues. MJ keeps those in mind and makes adaptations for me. I appreciate that she explains the benefits of particular movements. Each workout is different and I don’t have to think and plan ahead of time about what to do. She even counts for me! She always asks ahead of time how I feel and if I have preferences. I usually don’t and we go with her planned workout. I can just be “in the moment”. She is always positive and encouraging, and I love her sense of humor. She works me hard during each session but I’m still functional the rest of the day. I have been sleeping better at night. I see good progress in my strength, endurance, and flexibility. Additionally, she is always respectful of my time and is great at remote troubleshooting if I am having issues connecting with her. I highly recommend MJ !

MJ Taylor’s each session to my specific needs. She follows up after and checks in before each session to see how I’m feeling and adjusts our workout accordingly. Her calm and cheerful manner and her obvious knowledge of movement and physiology, lend to a safe and productive session every time. She’s even cheerful and encouraging at a very early morning zoom workout!!

FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I offer a free 10-minute initial call to see if we might be the right fit for each other. From there I offer a few options for pricing: $35 initial consult (45 minutes-60 minutes) $35: 6-week plan with tracking and text check-ins $20 for 25 minutes $35 for 45 minutes (most popular) $50 for 60 minutes For every 10 sessions, you get 1 free.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We can have an initial free 10-minute phone or video call to see if we might be a good fit for each other. From there I will have a 45-60 minute initial consult via Zoom. I will ask you about your goals, where you are at, and general fitness and medical history. I will ask you to perform a series of basic physical movements to better understand your current movement patterns. After the consult, there will be some paperwork for you to review and sign. Then we can go with either a designed 6-week plan with check-ins or we can begin weekly training. Unless you have very specific considerations, I generally recommend starting with 2 times per week and increasing to 3 or 4.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am certified by NASM. I was a four-year varsity D1 rower for Duke University and helped the team make it to NCAAs, placing 17th nationally in 2016. I competed nationally as a lightweight rower after college from 2017-2019. I have Safe Sport training from US Rowing to ensure safety when working with minors and was an assistant high school rowing coach for 2 years.
