We hired Dzevad to clean our gutters and are very pleased with his work and responsiveness. Pricing was comparable to other quotes we received from other contractors. He responded extremely quickly to our request for an estimate and even offered to come the next day to preform the work. Since that day didn't work for us, he arranged a day/time that worked with our schedule. He was very flexible - we agreed to have him come on a Sunday morning. He contacted us that morning to let us know he was on his way. Communication is often an area some contractors are lacking, however this is not the case with Dzevad. We would definitely recommend him for gutter cleaning and plan to have him back to do some other projects on our home.

The service was top notch work. Before searching for the quote, I had bad experience with other roofing contractor several years ago. Hence, I had a hard time, trusting the bids I was asking for. Until I found Frank Maxwell and Robin through this website, Frank came out next day to give the quote for new bigger deck and siding..... A real big project in my book. The quote was average...not the cheapest. AND IT IS WORTH! Frank, Robin, and Jeff did the marvelous work. They built real throughly and carefully. A beautiful siding..... Can't express how great deck looks. What's more, they made sure that my deck is well regulated by the city requirement. Robin always kept me up to the date with the work underway. If you are looking for the quotes, stop here... Don't go further. Give them a call. You won't regret!

We recently hired Sean to paint our living room, dining room, hallway and kitchen. He came over right away to analyze the job. Immediately we could tell he was an experienced painter and contractor who takes passion and pride in his work. He went above and beyond what was discussed at the initial consultation and had the house done in 2 days. I can't believe the quality of work, my walls look amazing! Thank you Sean!

To say Bill went above and beyond is an understatement. We hired Bill for interior painting at our new house in Murrysville early May 2016. Our primary concern was schedule, as we were looking to have painting completed prior to new flooring being installed. Bill committed to our schedule upfront, even though the interior painting work required wall paper removal and would be time consuming. Bill went above and beyond to get the job done, working late almost every day while on the job. Bill was able to finish a 3 week project in 2 weeks as a result, and alleviated our concerns with timing of our improvements prior to our move. Bill was friendly and willing to assist us while we were working at the house together, and was not just focused on his task at hand. As a result, we found more things for him to help us with, including installing railings on a balcony and adjusting an exterior door. Bill is clearly trustworthy and reputable. I highly recommend Bill’s services to anyone requiring handy work at their home or elsewhere.

It was a pleasure to work with Leo. Very pleased with his understanding of my unique project (preparing a house to sell w/o going overboard & $ crazy). He was able to address many things from repairing composite deck issues to painting kitchen cabinets, painting and repairing walls of multiple textures, bathroom work, basement cleaning and plumbing, new doors, etc.

Jason has been fantastic to work with. He came out to give us a bid and on the spot fixed a small issue we were having. This and the price regarding further renovations cemented our decision to use his services. So far he has uninstalled our previous contractor's sloppy work, helped us reimagine our kitchen, and has been following through in a timely and professional manner. He provides us with options at every step of the way, but based on his work, we trust him to do whatever he thinks is right because "the proof is in the pudding." We could not be happier that we found Jason to help us perfect our first home.

Jason rescued my floors! I originally hired a local contractor I have work for me in the past. He said he has redone flors in the past. I should have known something was wrong in the beginning when he said he would need to rent the refinishing equipment. What conrtactor needs to rent tool anyway! So he showed up to sand the floorsand said he would be done later that day. When I came home from work 1 room was half sanded and he was gone. I called him to see what was going on. He stated there was a layer of glue on the floor and he can't remove it and he was not going to gome back and finish the job. So I called several so called pros and they all stated that it was carpet mastic and it can't be sanded off. Jason came in and said yes it is mastic but he can remove it and sand and refinish my floors. He delivered! He arrive and got to work. I came back several hours later to check on the progress. WOW. All the masitc was gone and he was almost finished sanding. He completed the whole process with the finish with in the agreed apon time and the the floors are beautiful beyond my expectations. Jason thank you for outstanding job!

I'm an industrial design engineer and I've been renovating property in Pittsburgh for 10+ years and I decided to hire James for two weeks to help get an 1800's house that I bought rent-able until I could revisit the house more intensly in the future. Long story short, I quickly determined that I could count on Jim and his men to show up and get down to business on a higher level. We ended up gutting the entire house, jacking up the foundation, restructuring anything that was questionable, adding and redesigning bathrooms, running all new pex water lines, new electric and new gas lines. We installed all new windows, insulation, plumbed for an additional kitchen for possible future needs. We installed new headers and opened up rooms to meet code standards, leveled floors and ceilings by adding wooden drop cieling grids and installed drywall throughout. We are currently finishing drywall and getting ready to start all the final flooring and trim work and I'm completely satisfied thus far and would not hesitate to keep them working on my property portfolio. Here are a few qualities that he and his crew display that are hard to find: --They show up on time and enjoy working regardless of the conditions. We had quite a few miserable demo days with nothing but positivity. --They don't go straight to the bar after work, they go home and spend time with their family. --They are honest. Alot of contractors will tell you they know all about everything just to find out they are faking it. If Jim didn't know something, we worked on the solution together and didn't have to backtrack, wasting time and money. --Working hrs were well kept and I didn't have to worry about my personal tools or materials coming up "lost" or missing. --They really do care about how you feel about your project and have no problem going with the flow when I constantly change my mind on design. --They are physically capable. Say you need a dumpster loaded or 100 sheets of drywall moved around the job site, it's not a problem and nobody complains. --Willingness to learn. I've done alot of improvising with OLD houses and they want to use any experience or knowledge to their advantage. All in all, it is a great experience and I'll have them back to work with me on my personal home this spring. I'll add pictures soon.

I have used Woods Construction two times now. First project was a major one: rip out kitchen cabinets, install new ones, put sink, dishwasher, ceiling fan, flooring in, repair ceiling. They also did two bathroom renovations, painted entire floor & trim. They did a great job! He stayed on the time line he promised. One area of the bathroom needed a touch up and he came back immediately to fix. His prices are competitive. I am so glad I used him because I tried another contractor at the same time for the outside work and it was a nightmare. Since then, I have used him again for outside work doing a set of cement steps. Again he did a professional job! I will be using Woods Construction again! I am very pleased.

Justin showed up exactly when he said he would to give us an estimate, 8AM on the dot. I really liked how he worked with us during the estimate to help us figure out what we wanted, instead of just telling us what we needed. We scheduled the work on the spot after he presented his bid. Seems like a 50-50 gamble with contractors these days, but he was recommended by our neighbor so we knew we could trust him to get the job done. As promised, he showed up precisely when he said he would to start our job. Justin and his gentle crew would ask me questions each step of the way to make sure I was satisfied before they progressed further. I could tell he really cared about the result of our interior and we were more than happy when it was done. Two months later and all of our rooms still look great!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

      • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
      • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
      • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
      • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
      • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
