Table-Tek gave me the most personalized first-contact--the response to my inquiry was the most human/least auto-response...you could tell a human being wrote back that didn't just cut-and-paste a stock email. There was immediate response via text once they were hired (which I prefer over email or a phone call)...everything was seamless (including the joining of the pool table slate--pun intended). I was notified of the approximate arrival time and the person who assembled the table was very polite, professional (e.g., focused on the job, didn't play music, didn't talk on the phone) and really understood the table. This company is wonderful--true professionals.

John was awesome to deal with and extremely patient, as I had a million questions over the few weeks I was figuring things out. They did an awesome job in setting up everything and assembling the table. He and his helper were polite and very knowledgeable. They were extremely careful and covered the floor for all the areas they walked through to keep things clean and not scratch the floor. They worked quickly and efficiently and didn't mind answering all my questions as they were going along. My brother and I own a small family business and John works the same way we do. Attention to detail and extremely service oriented. I would highly recommend John and Proper Pool to anyone moving a pool table or having one assembled.

We couldn't be more impressed and satisfied with hiring Light Hauling! Very quick response and even made the trip to dissemble pool table and remove pool table on a Sunday. Complete professionals and affordable. We will definitely use Jeff and his team again for future moving/hauling needs and would highly recommend using this company for the services they offer!

Move of 8' 3 slate pool table from Northeast Philly to Mount Laurel. Everything worked out great with the move. It was quick and no major hiccups. The new felt arrived just in time and looks great. My original felt was razor thin and I wanted something that would slow the table some. The Burgundy worked out great. Very happy with the service and would use again.

From prompt email responses (and customer service follow up), to the final delivery...everything was great. We had a slight delay on the pick-up window, but I was called and made aware of the delay. (Plus, it wasn't Centurion's fault...the "move" they were picking up prior to mine was larger than the customer told Centurion.) Kevin, Kevin, and Rasheed where hard-working and kind--very professional while handling a family heirloom (a baby grand piano). I wouldn't hesitate to use Centurion Movers again.

This company for sure overceeded my expectations. At first I was somewhat skeptical but this crew made a stressful scenario work for me.I moved a 2bdr with boxes, misc item's, piano, and a pool table from Ct to NJ estimated for 6 to 7 hrs and it went only a he over because of the difficulty of the move.very fair prices and they were polite and experienced..I will use them again with my next move and recommend them to friends and family...

My 20+ year old table needed new rubber rails, new felt and it needed to be leveled. Once the table was apart, Matthew discovered that the wooden rails had gap issues and he could not guarantee that they would hold the new felt. He built beautiful new oak rails. The table plays great now. Matthew is very thorough, accommodating, knowledgable and thoughtful. The whole process only took one week. I will hire him again.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to restore a pool table?

Keeping your pool table in prime condition both protects your investment and makes it more fun to play. If your billiards table has been damaged by age or player misuse, experienced pool table repair pros are ready to help. The average national cost to hire a pool table specialist is $330-$400, but pricing can vary depending on how much restoration work needs to be done and the type and cost of materials you need. Depending on the type of pool table you want, the cost to buy one new can range from $1,000 to $5,000 and up, so investing in upkeep every few years makes good financial sense. Common pool table repairs include refelting the table, replacing cushions and cushion rubber that is has deteriorated or been damaged, installing new pockets or replacing damaged pockets, and fixing chips or smoothing uneven slate. You can also have wood pool tables refinished to restore them to their former luster, which may start around $600 and go up, depending on size, wood type and necessary repairs. Pool table repair pros can level an uneven table, repair broken leg mounts and address other foundational issues. Pool table repair pros can also fix coin-operated parts for commercial tables.

How much does it cost to replace pool table felt?

Owning a pool table, whether for pleasure or business, means investing in upkeep. Keeping the felt in good condition is important to ensure not only appearance but a smooth game. The national average cost to hire a pool table repair professional ranges from $330 to $400. A quality pool table is a major investment, so you want to hire a pro who is experienced and comes with glowing references. Refelting a pool table is a specialized skill calling for technical tools, competence with slate smoothing and repair, and the ability to provide a precision application of the felt that won’t hinder play.

When well cared for, pool table felt can last up to a decade; pros recommend replacing your pool table felt every three years or so, more often if you play heavily. Refelting and pool table repairs can cost more for antique and custom pool tables. Commercial pool table owners are wise to have multiple pool tables repaired at one time, as they can often get discounts for volume work.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
