Very friendly and personable staff. Excellent customer service, quick to respond to calls and emails. Got the work done quickly as well. Wish I had been told in advance that the products were not safe for use around kids and pets, I would have made arrangements for someone to watch them out of the house until the spray dried. Other companies gave me higher quotes but assured me their products were safe for kids and pets, so I didn't even think to ask just assumed all companies would be using kid friendly products. Also don't really like the white colored residue left behind but as I have never had to pay anyone to spray indoors before I cannot be sure that any other company would have provided a different result. I have had orkin spray the outside of my home for ticks before, but this is the first time I have ever had an indoor ant treatment. Did appreciate the suggestion of moving our woodpile off the porch. Didn't consider it might be the cause of the ants, because it is raised off the ground and inside an old crib our son no longer needed. I didn't really want to use Orkin again. I prefer to support small home businesses which is why I ultimately chose this company. Price wise they were right in line with everyone else, but their 6month guarantee beat all of their competition! Everyone else gave us quotes with just 45-60 day guarantees. Original quote was $250, but I used a credit card and they charge a $10 fee for that so total for this job was $260 For that amount of money I would much rather have a 6mont warrantee and support a small business than pay a big company like orkin the same amount and only a 60day warrantee. Thanks so much for a job well done!

The other day, I had an ant infestation in my kitchen. I had used the services of another exterminating company but they were unable to come to me for at least a week. I turned to Thumbtack to find another exterminator. I was so impressed with Amenta Pest Mgmt.'s initial response to my Thumbtack.com query, that I called immediately and spoke with the owner, Steve. He was professional and calming, and was able to deal with my ant issue in a timely fashion - the very next day, in fact. Nick, Steve's son (I like that it's a family owned and operated business.) showed up exactly on time, explained how he was going to deal with my ant issue, quelled my concerns about it being harmful to my pets and wildlife (Nick has pets of his own and completely understood my concerns) and, after explaining everything fully and taking the time to answer my questions, he proceeded to take care of my ant infestation. I noticed that he donned paper booties before entering my home, so as not to make my floors dirty. He was friendly, and patient (I had a lot of questions) and I had the utmost trust in him. It's not easy for most people to allow a stranger into their home, especially one who's dealing with pests when the homeowner has pets - and concerns. Nick was careful and respectful of my dog and cats and, as I've written, addressed all of my concerns in a way that made me feel very confident. And, the ants, as I was told they would be, were gone. I recommend Amenta Pest Management wholeheartedly and confidently. I received friendly, professional and, yes, caring service. I will use them again and recommend them to friends.

I contacted Harpoon Pest solutions base off of their reviews and the free inspection. My technician was Quincy J. Mr. Quincy came out and inspected my home for bed bugs. It was discovered that I did have bed bugs in my home. This has been a stressful experience for my family but Quincy has made it a lot easier to bear. His customer service is outstanding he has always been available for all my questions and concerns. I just received my first treatment and the day after I had some concerns, Quincy immediately came back out to my home to inspect. So far I am extremely impressed with my pest control services. If you want empathy, knowledge and great customer service chose Harpoon pest solutions.

Joe Boerner was the first to contact us, was able to show up the next morning, and solved our ant problem with a 30 day guarantee. He was professional, on time, knowledgeable, and recommended a monthly treatment plan at a reasonable price. We will be retaining his services for our businesses extermination needs.

I have never worked with ANY company with this level of customer service! They are just doing their job, but they do it with such EXCELLENCE, and grace, that to them; it's "no big deal!" Well... I'd like to say; that it IS a big deal. This company has succeeded my expectations above and beyond what I could have even imagined. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a bed- bug removal service. We do travel AAU sports and stay in hotels often, so whenever we hear conversation of bed bugs we refer them to East Coast Heat Guys. If we ever bring bed bugs back home again from our travels, we will be coming back to them ! I can't thank them enough for how comfortable and taken care of they made us feel throughout this entire process! Bed bug free for months now. Hopefully never again!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  A million thumbs up!

We called on a Tuesday and spoke with Sabrina, who was very knowledgable and able to answer all of my questions. She was also able to confirm we had bed bugs by allowing me to text her a picture of what I had found. By chance, we were able to schedule our treatment the very next day. The service men arrived on time, reviewed the removal of some important and often forgotten items with us and called later that day with an update, as promised. In addition to all of this, Sabrina provided me with a number to contact her directly to answer any questions since we had only one night to prepare the house. We couldn't ask for anything more.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
