If I could give more stars I would! Randy was extremely helpful and easy to work with. He was very professional. He always responded to my questions quickly, which I find so important. I had no clue where to start with my project but he guided me through and went out of his way to help me with other things around the house. The painting looks absolutely perfect! I have so much more work to be done and he'll be my go-to guy!

I first hired Renew Renovations to remodel my dining room. Everything from removing a wall, sheet rock, texture, paint, wainscoting, new floors, new recessed lights and hanging my chandelier. I was so impressed by his knowledge, professionalism, cleanliness and of course my new dining room! I had them return to my home to remodel one of my guest bedrooms. They refinished my original hardwood floors, and textured and painted my walls. I would hands down recommend Renew Renovations to anyone and everyone. I am still in Aw that they created/gave me the dining room of my dreams!! Did I mention he helped me with pretty much the whole design aspect!!!

We have had Barry over to our house numerous times in 2017. He is a pleasant man, gets right to work without wasting a lot of time, works diligently, cleans up his work site at the end of each day, and completes the tasks he is physically able to complete. He requires payment at the end of each day rather than upon completion of the job, but his hourly rate is very reasonable. We have been pleased with his work and we will have him back to do a few painting jobs this spring (if spring ever arrives!). Most importantly, we trust him.

Greg and his crew did an amazing job. I had them lay new tile in my kitchen. My wife and I couldn't be happier. We plan to use them again for our next project.

We had several things that needed to be done in our house. These included a kitchen counter and backsplash, work in bathrooms, painting, refinishing of badly-worn steps, etc. Tom handled it all. He advised us when we had questions and allowed us to stay within our budget while doing work that looked out of our budget. Tom paid attention to details and is someone who takes pride in what he does. We have a few more things we are thinking of having done and will contact Tom first. We highly recommend him. Feel confident that when you hire Tom your work will be done to your satisfaction.

A job done above and beyond what I was expecting. The job ended up being more work than anticipated, but, Rich went out of his way to make sure it was completed. Including doing a few things not in his job description, such as helping to move some furniture and helping me to find a specific paint color that we ran out of. I love the work he did, the work ethic that he brought with him to the job, and would absolutely recommend him and hire him again myself if needed!

Hired K&T to repair water damage to wall structure and attached upper deck, which was pulling away from the house. The work was done professionally and timely. They also did some inside work repairing drywall, taping and painting. Again all work was as agreed and done very well. Kris and Tamara are a pleasure to deal with and I wouldn't hesitate to contract with them again.

Great experience with these guys. We had a tight timeline to get into our new house and they came through on my deadline. Quality of work is excellent. After wasting time with another painter who did terrible work, we were desperate to find a quality contractor on short notice. These guys fixed the drywall and painted our living room perfectly. Our kitchen cabinets had a dark brown color which they painted them white with an antiqued finish. The cabinets look brand new. I can't thank them enough for helping us and doing such a great job on our home. They went above and beyond.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
