Cassie was such a gem. She was in good contact throughout the planning process while we developed the menu together for a birthday dinner for 12 people, accommodating for various diet restrictions. At the event she took care of everything and even brought printed menus to put on each plate. Meal highlights: scallops with pesto and a chocolate coffee ganache cake with little individual ice cream cups - SO tasty, and we had leftover cake for breakfast the next day! Thank you Cassie!Dec 14, 2019Verified

This was an amazing event. I am so happy to have found CJ Catering. The communication from the start was wonderful. All menu requests were easily accommodated. As soon as Cassandra arrived I was impressed by her professionalism. Her and her team were amazing. The appetizers were amazing. The charcuterie boards not only had great ingredients but tasted excellent. The service during the sit down portion was excellent. I think this next story really encapsulates how wonderful the experience was. The party was for my wife's birthday. She requested an ice cream bar. Part of the request was fresh whipped cream. However just at the end of dinner we lost power. Cassandra hand whipped the cream, it was amazing. Thank you so much and I look forward to hiring you all again for our next event.Dec 16, 2019Verified
CJ Catering catered my wedding cake and cupcakes. We had a mini 2 tiered cake with an assortment of cupcakes beneath. They complimented our Cape Cod clambake perfectly! We had several different flavors and our guests raved about them. I initially gave a count which ended up being an over estimate from our final guest list but I chose not to adjust it with CJ and it was a great decision! Despite having extras I don’t think there was a spare. We also put out some takeout cupcake containers and I know a few left in those too. They tasted as amazing as they looked and it was a joy to work with this caterer! Incredible accommodating and reliable.Jul 18, 2019
We hired Cassie to make our wedding cake and she did not disappoint!! We knew we only wanted something small and basic for us to cut, but wanted it to taste amazing. My husband is picky with cake and (especially) frosting, so we knew a "regular" sweet frosting wasnt going to cut it. At our consult, Cassie asked us the different flavor options and combos that we liked, as well as the sweetness level and types of frostings. At our tasting, she brought us 4 different flavors and 2 different frosting types. We were really torn between two of the flavors, so Cassie suggested we do a 2 layer cake and have each layer be a different flavor! Best decision ever! In the end, we went with a chocolate and coffee ganache on the top with Snickers on the bottom and covered in buttercream icing. Absolutely delicious! So thankful to Cassie for helping to make our wedding wonderful!Jul 31, 2019
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?-Even though Thumbtack has a two-price-point structure (basic & high end ingredients) I work hard to make the most of your budget, and source as locally & sustainably as possible. -I am happy to travel to you for any event! Under 25 miles there's no charge, 26-50 miles it runs $50, and 51-100 miles its $75. If there's an instance where I am asked to travel more than 100 miles, it's a $100 travel fee. For reference, I am based out of Providence, RI. -Wedding cakes have strict payment plans in place and require a “cake contact” (we agree on payment schedule and give all the necessary details about the big day!) -Pricing is reflective of the quality of ingredients used, specific equipment, delivery, labor, etc.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?-We’ll talk details. What do you envision, what flavor ideas you have, goals, etc? I’m here to help you have a great day/experience, so we will talk at length for what you need. - I also very much appreciate knowing of any food based allergies in the dining party, along with any dietary restrictions. I do work in a kitchen where nuts are present and flour is typically airborne. If you have someone with a severe allergy to either, I may not be the one for you. - Have a favorite dish? Let me know! We can work it into the menu *usually* without an issue.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Started out in food service when I was 15; after high school I went to Johnson & Wales University and graduated with my bachelors of science in Baking & Pastry. I’ve been in industry 10+ years and have a main focus in bread and French pastry.
